Re: Cell Phone Addicts III

JD, I agree that it’s a big problem. I think Dave is trying to say trying to push for legal changes is more effective than discussing on the forum. ;) It is, but this is still a discussion forum and as such people are going to discuss things . The biggest problem is texting and driving. I drive for...

Re: K390 IS "The M4 Killer"

Shawn, My only experience with D2 was a BM HK which lost the high sharpness quickly to working edge and Luong’s K110 which is better (but I haven’t compared it to the CS XHP). The XHP however, holds the high sharpness better than BM HK and easily brought back. It also doesn’t suffer from losing the ...

Re: K390 IS "The M4 Killer"

... It was still cutting along and one day I noticed it would not shave as easily. It held that edge for a long while until it got dull and I was forced to resharpen. I have never had a steel that I was as enthusiastic about as K390... Another thing, it may not be "stainless" but it sure ...

Re: K390 IS "The M4 Killer"

Shawn, You did have experience with CS BS in XHP and if I recall correctly, you had quite good impression of high sharpness edge holding it has. I found it to my liking also, opposite to S110V. How different is this P4 in K390 or how much similarities with XHP? All these talks about it making me wa...

Re: Shipping issues

If I resided in the US, I’d follow through with USPS myself. Since I live overseas, such issue can be avoided with insurance or tracked delivery (which makes the shipping as much or more than the cost of the knife) In some instances, it’s a gamble I take. Previously no shipment was lost even if dela...

Re: Shipping issues

USPS shipped out of California hub never failed to reach me. One through New York Jamaica delayed, and one lost. It (the lost one) contained PacSalt Black Serrated bought from Exchange over BF, that never came. Checked with contacts in my country postal service, it never arrived at all. I took the l...

Re: Tips for UF bench stone?

I use light coat mineral oil / baby oil in it, and rubber pencil eraser.
No barkeepers also down here so I make do with what’s available.

Vivi is correct. The knife should already been fully sharpened to use this effectively.

Re: byrd lockbacks

I agree with carrot. The final touch of deburring lockbar or handle edges are sometimes lacking. They do break in after a while by using them. An exception would be one Cara Cara that I need to file the last part of the tang curve (just before the lockbar drops into the notch) so it is less bumpy. T...

Re: Im keeping my enduras. No to the police 4

I was excited initially too about P4 FRN.

OP’s post has me thinking with Enduras and Cara Caras I have, plus CS Broken Skull (longer blade similar to P4, thin & lightweight).
Will a P4 FRN at 140$ be good buy for me? :o

For me focusing on lockbacks and it’s variant (Triad) helped so far, but not with the native chief, endela and harrier 2 coming :o
Have some guidelines to prevent overspending is good. After all it’s about wants and not needs ;)

Re: Favorite Steels

I like those that hold high sharpness longer than those drop to working edge forever. Currently liking XHP (from cS) for these. I have given up on S110V (Manix 2) and D2 (BM HK, strangely XHP isn’t like D2 at all) for the same reason. 8Cr as in byrd is very quickly and easily put to high sharpness w...

That’s why I said ‘guilty of being lazy’. Not the easiest but definitely far from impossible. Just need to slow down and take care of it.

Or simply don’t quote like this post ;)
