Re: You can run any model you want in LC200N. Which do you choose?

This is gonna be a popular wish me thinks but I'll have to go with a PM2, 2nd choice Manix 2 I'm with you. I think some of the most popular models should be standard production with the basic stainless steel but also in a salt model and in a model with premium steel which could be M4, S110V 4V or C...

Re: Favorite "HARD USE" Blade Steel

The ones that I use for working around the house are Manix 2 in 154CM and Manix 2 in M4. I have a Manix 2 in Cruwear that I bought to use for work but haven't brought myself to beat on it yet.

Of the ones that I already carry- either a Manix 2 M4 steel or a Manix 2 XL S30V.

Re: Top 5 knives you actually carry

Para2, Manix2, Military, and one odd Benchmade Para2 is my favorite EDC, I have 3 different ones. Manix2 is my favorite work knife but I also use them for EDC. Between G10, LW and XL I have 6 different ones. I use the Military frequently for weekend carry and I have 2 of them. I have one stray B____...

My preferences in style and characteristics change slowly, but I sometimes get tired of one thing and replace it with something that is relatively similar.

Re: Tip up or tip down carry

2. It's quicker for me. Tip down requires me to rotate the knife, then open. Tip up, I simply open it from the position I draw it. Makes it more convenient eliminating a step. I have both types and carry both types. I've done all I can do in the way of experiments and tests and with real clothes an...

Re: Tip up or tip down carry

- like to have the blade against the seam of their pocket / away from the hand when reaching in - think tip up a knife is faster to deploy. - feel the clip in the back of the knife helps closing the knife one-handed. Other reasons for tip up- - people like a lanyard on their knife - people use a Wa...

Re: What is your favorite Spyderco in CPM Cruwear?

Manix 2 and Military are my favorites. I consider the Manix 2 to be a tough work knife, and I likt to think the toughness of Cruwear when I see the long blade of the Military.

Re: Your personal size categories?

I can't remember if I've responded to this thread yet-
My preferences for folders are PM2 and Manix 2 on the short end, Military and Manix 2 XL on the big end. I rotate through all of these for EDC duty to my office.

Re: rusty steels

Our climate can be wet at times, dry at times. I have no problem with general carry of M4 steel and like its combination of edgeholding and toughness. Granted I did carry one one day when I was working in the yard and sweating a lot, and it did quickly develop some surface rust. The rust cleaned off...

Re: Pm2 vs Manix 2

I like, own and carry both. I was carrying a manix 2 XL today. I should say that I like all 3 versions of the Manix 2- standard G10, lightweight, and XL. All of them, including my PM2s, are in my carry rotation. I actually consider the Manix 2 lightweights and the PM2s better for EDC and the Manix 2...

It is relative- the Chaparral is significantly smaller than anything I carry, including what I carry to my office every day.

Re: So I think Spydies are beautiful...

Remember the saying "beauty is as beauty does". Their function is beautiful so what they look like is secondary.

As Sal says- the Spyderco is built for the hands, not for the eyes.

So I shouldn't mention "2 is 1 and 1 is none" and "a pair and a spare" ?

Re: Anyone else here still love the Starmate?

It's the thickness and shape of the front of the blade. I could be wrong but imho it seems to be designed to penetrate stuff. Bob T is the Father of the tatical knife and it definatly shows up here I like the looks of the Starmate, particularly the blade shape. I seem to use pointed blades a lot so...

Re: The tastes they are a-changin’

Oh Grasshopper, you have a long way to go. In my case I had to go through 20+ years of knife collecting before I had some confidence that I could select some favorites and they would stay favorites for awhile. OTOH I wonder if it is ever possible to select permanent favorites. I've been collecting w...

Re: S110V vs M4 for cardboard

People have done this type of test, IIRC S110V came out ahead. I did my own informal test with an older Manix 2 M4 and a new Manix 2 LW S110V but in my test the M4 came out ahead. I thought it could have been because the M4 edge had been sharpened more. However my favorite Military is in M4. If a pe...

Re: Best PM2 For Ocean Work?

After today's reveal of the Para 3 LW, I would venture to say that the best PM2 for ocean work is the inevitable LC200N PM2 LW Salt. When we will see it is anyone's guess, but it will certainly be a day that lives in infamy. I've said several times before that the popular models should come in mult...
