Re: 52100 Military, what are your plans?

I think alot of us are buying at least a couple of these, I know I want a user and at least one back up. I'd be torn too David with the chipping, I guess it doesn't really matter if it's a user but your right about spending the coin and expecting no flaws.it would suck to send it back and not be ab...

Here is a sharpening and first impressions review from Michael Christy (not sure if he is a member here): https://youtu.be/bVOYOzHN1VQ He knows how to get screaming sharp edges. Interesting comments about corrosion resistance too, but we know this already... :) I'm fascinated by this guys sharpenin...

Wow, that would be awesome. I have no pre-order's though and I suspect almost all of the first batch will be going to those.

Sharpened mine up today. It was actually more abrasion resistant than I was expecting. It gets screaming sharp. I was easily whittling hair off a medium Spyderco stone.

Agreed :D. It really is a large knife anyway haha. Anyone else going to be using theirs? I wouldn't mind finding another to save back but mines already sharpened and in my pocket haha.

Here is mine. I too am very inpressed. Smooth, excellent lockup, and the centering is perfect as well. http://i888.photobucket.com/albums/ac81/yoyofool1/Mobile%20Uploads/20160613_153155_zpsk2lxgdec_edit_1465846455560_zpsjakknep8.jpg It looks humongous in that photo. Re: Looking for a 52100 enabler

While not an exactly perfect comparison, imagine it like a Super Blue Military. 52100 does rust, but it's a tough steel that takes one heck of a razors edge. It's a great "working" steel. Solid peel ply carbon fiber with all the new CQI improvements, whats not to love? There, I've done my best :D.

Forum name: SteelSpyder I was too late to submit an image last season, hopefully I'm not this season too haha. I picked this image because the techno reminded me in ways of the toad sitting there looking at it. Short and stubby. The techno is both of those but still a "little big knife" and highly c...

Agreed, and the type of razors edge these simpler steels take is awesome.

Re: 52100 Military, what are your plans?

It is similar to other carbon steels like steelspyder mentioned. O1 is another similar steel that is fairly common. However, this 52100 Military is gonnna be run a little harder than many carbon steels. 1095 is fairly ubiquitous in the knife world and companies build almost their entire product lin...

What other popular steel compares to 52100 ??
It's performance should be similar to steels like 5160, 1095, Super Blue ect. Although all have slightly different composition, the performance difference shouldn't be huge.

I hope they don't ditch the Karahawk already. I really like mine, and I heard talk if them redisigning the finger hole to be reinforced and covered with g-10. I think swigerts list is echoing my thoughts.

True. I saw someone bending theirs by hand. It doesn't feel like you can do that with the Hap-40.

Re: HAP40 Delica and Endura

I got a question for those who have been using there Hap40s. Hows the sus410 holding up scratch wise ? I love my unlaminated zdp189 endura and delicas The only thing that scratches them up is me doing something I shouldn't. I have not ownd anything coated with 420j2. It is very stainless As far as ...
