Re: Rhino

I am happy about the change. And it will save me some money...

Regardless of how much the new knife costs, it will be cheaper than the original rhino plus the sprint run for better materials.

It's a deal breaker if it's tip down...hear me Sal?
I don't think I want either side tip up or tip down.
Maybe swap out the hawkbill for a surgical coagulator. Could use the same battery and reattach all the little oopsies.

Re: Urban K390 in stock

I got mine in the mail today! This knife has great F&F. The back spring is pretty strong and it is hard to overcome the half stop with one finger. But, there is a greatly reduced risk that this knife will accidentally close on my fingers. I can't wait to start using it. It is already in my pocket. ...

Re: Urban K390 in stock

But, unfortunatly I was unenable to unscrew the pivot as the bolt on the other side was freely turning under my finger and don't know how to block it.I try to press my finger on it but I could feel it turning... All the other screws came easily but the one on the pivot's. Guess it's not so easy to ...

More to come soon. :-) Nemo (or anyone else who has a regular uban to compare), How well do the cuscadi scales fit? They look gre...

Re: Question about sprint runs and manufacturing/distribution

Thanks for the thoughts! The background is I ordered a k390 urban, loved it, and then ordered another one. My usual retailer was out the second time around, so I had to look elsewhere. I was wondering, for instance when the hap40 wharnie delica comes out, whether it makes sense just to order a coupl...

Question about sprint runs and manufacturing/distribution

I have had a nagging question about sprint runs. So an observation is that retailers will receive a batch of sprints, sell out, then receive another batch (sometimes). So the question is: Does Spyderco make an entire batch prior to shipping? For example, Sal has said there will be 1200 of the k390 u...

Re: UKPK thoughts. PIC HEAVY

Steve can not mod the newer UKPK or Urban models due to the way the springs are installed. He can however mod one of the older G10 UKPKs (if you can find one!) such as this Koa wood one he did for me with red G10 liners. :) Cheers, Radioactive :) http://i780.photobucket.com/albums/yy85/dnairradiato...

Re: Dodo Clips Are Awesome!

Yes - there seems to be at least two lengths of the wire clips - for both deep and regular carry. I swapped out my positron clip for the shorter dragonfly/ourobouros clip, and it took away (almost) all the hot spots caused by the original clip. Just like every knife fits in each of our hands a bit d...

Re: Official Ouorboros Review and Give-A-Way Thread

I just received the Ouroboros, and used it for the past week as part of the passaround. Here are a few thoughts to share: The design: Stellar. Very clever packaging, very nice use of contours and negative space. My initial thoughts upon seeing the knife (besides "I want that") were that the blade le...

Re: Official Ouorboros Review and Give-A-Way Thread

One note, though: after putting some phosphor-bronze washers into the knife, it's become an entirely different and much more compelling (alchemical) beast for me. Can you post more info about this? Like thickness, inner/outer diameter? supplier? And pics :D, not that we will be able to see the wash...

Re: Rhino

I just got the midyear product guide. I had originally written off the rhino as too small - until I saw the scale drawing. I then read all 10 pages of this thread. I am now super excited to try one of these knives. I am becoming a fan of the trailing point - in fixed blades to date. Looking forward ...

The newer Cats have the jimping and a different shape to the clip. They made the change almost a year ago I believe.
Not the flashiest knife, but my most used knife. I always figured I was a bit odd. Good to know there are other oddballs out there :)

Not to hicjack the thread - but -
For all the people who use the caspian and attach it to a pfc or a bc - how do you strap it on?
Mine fits in the sheath extremely tightly -hard to pull out since the attachment never seems secure enough.

thanks.
