Re: S110V Para3 LW?

My two most carried Para3's are s110v and Maxamet - both of which come in Native/Manix LW versions. I am very hopeful these will be added to the Para3 LW line-up. Especially in their respective colors (dark blue and grey)!

Re: Micarta Putman scales at DLT

Oh btw, the micarta scales are a bit thicker than the stock scales on both knives, but not by much. Here are comparison pics on the Smock. https://i.imgur.com/Stcov0h.jpg Got mine today as well. I had an mxg clip with the CF scales - after swapping for micarta, the screws would not engage the liner...

Re: Micarta Putman scales at DLT

https://i.imgur.com/N7eTplt.jpg Oh wow, those do look good! Much better in your pics than in the product ad pics. They looked kinda bulky there, I thought, but not at all in your pics. The screws look countersunk - so it looks like the scales may add some thickness? On my smock with stock scales (f...

Yes. If you don’t want notifications , swipe up on the spydie hole in the app, and go to settings. Turn off notifications there.

Re: Micarta Putman scales at DLT

I just made my first scales out of micarta today. Man, it’s nasty stinky stuff. Looking good! I remember a discussion I had with a custom knife maker a couple years back. He charged more for green micarta than brown micarta or even CF. He said it was harder to work with, more wear on belts, and mor...

It works!
Older pic, but as requested:

Edit - Just want to say that I like this knife so much more with the LW scales...
And I really liked the Para3 to begin with.

Re: Micarta Putman scales at DLT

I don't like the look of the micarta on the smock. Same here, just looked. The CF scales that come with it are much better imo. Guess my tastes are not too popular. :( I have no issues with CF -including laminate. And the Taichung CF looks really good. But for some reason, none of these knives has ...

Re: Micarta Putman scales at DLT

Love me some micarta as well. Smock micarta incoming...
I hope the micarta shaman sells well, and micarta becomes a new standard option. Benchmade recently had a limited edition with python micarta - and chatter is that many people bought that one just for the micarta scales.

Would a lil native backlock in frn be too close to a chaparral frn? Wonder if the compression lock version would allow more variation?

Re: Red G10 Para 3 M390

I stayed away from my computer for 20 whole minutes. Came back, and decided to get one after all :o
Servers were great, everything was nice and smooth.
Glad to see a larger run - agree that hopefully this means fewer flippers.

Now gotta get me another para3LW donor to do a blade swap...

Re: Para 3 FRN observation and question

Welcome to the forum. I've been carrying my para3 LW for a couple weeks now (since I got it), and have not had any issues with a weak detent or the blade opening. I have carried other para3s for at least a year, and never had issue with those either (all tip up). One common suggestion I have seen is...

Re: The backup that helps you sleep at night... ;)

Over the past few years, I purged all my backups (exact duplicates). One of the joys of Spyderco is the variations on a theme - getting my favorite platform in m390, s110v, rex45, and now maxamet. I caved a bit and bought a backup maxamet. Not hoarding a sprint, but this is a steel I can readily ima...

Re: Cleaning g10

I have used the magic eraser as well. That said - it is kind of like very fine grit sand paper. I've heard it compared to 3000 grit sand paper. This means that over time, the g10 may smooth out a bit. I prefer slightly less grippy peel-ply, so it works for me. Also, always use water (to reduce the a...

Re: Are you a collector?

I may have to change my prior answer. Where does "backup" fit into this scheme? Bought another Para3 maxamet on the irrational fear that they disappear again. Not really a collection if it is an exact duplicate? More accumulation? All part of the same spectrum of disease?

Re: Are you a collector?

Accumulator here. And rationalizer :D
I have 3-4 knives that were purely for collection sake (old Goddards and Lums that caught my eye, but won't ever get used), but the rest are bought as users. Problem is I have too many now to use them all  - life is hard.

Actually, Life is Good.

I would add the Q ball. That said, I have always been curious and might pick one up when it goes on the list.

Where's the Bow River? Do any stores have it? I saw there was a sheath now
It shows as in stock at (at least) two internet sites. I think they will soon be available widely :D

edit - it shows the Smock as in stock as well, so perhaps their inventory management is not so strong...
