I would'nt get to cranked up i did'nt see it in the new 2003 catalog must be slated for sometime in the future. the sooner the better if anyone who matters is reading this.

Well the quality started to drop off when the Spyderco quality control or quanity control dept. Started hiring "non" knife people qc-ing folders. I have played with the ball lock proto types and i find it combersome and tough to operate.
The axis lock is far easier to operate on handed.

Sorry quality is what Spyderco WAS known for I had to unfortunatly drop out of the collector's club when the quality was no longer up to my standards!

My guess is that the Golden plant hasn't been putting out more that 500 knives in the last 3 months.And the lil temp is only done in small runs and backorders are probally deeper than production can handle since there are half the staff they has 6 months ago.

fyi spyderco presspins the meerkat's the only loctite that would be applied would be on the thread of the clip screws. unless the japaneess maker needed to "shim" the model.

Golden production has enough trouble with regular production knives to starat recliping knives other than production style. Best shot is to get some one who does tooling or gunsmithing have it drilled and tapped shouldn't cost more than $20 dollars. i have had plenty of clips switched side to side/ ...
