My boss called me into his office today and had a YouTube vid on his screen. The video was something with Russian Systema Martial Arts and was dedicated to self defense knife usage. Narrated in Russian, I didn't understand what it said but him being a Russian emigrant and Systema practitioner he wa...

It certainly takes guts to mod a knife that expensive. Great job! The flame anodization looks fantastic! Thanks Blerv Bamman and Jabba! yea I had a few pucker moments when i thought I couldnt get it back together or the Ti had warped or something. I think I would be CRUSHED if I ended up screwing u...

Thanks all! Yea it was sort of stressfull at first since I didnt know EXACTLY how it would turn out or look, inspite of the pre-visulization sketching. I was afraid it would be out of proportion or something, but Im very happy with the results. It will indeed be an excellent hard work tool. I told m...

Custom LionSpy- Bowie Re-grind/clip point, and some heat ano for good measure!

Back a couple months ago, before the lion spy came out, I had thought about getting an Sr-1, and was toying with the idea of Reginding the large blade into more of a bowie like shape, as I have always wanted a folding bowie. For one reason or another, I never ended up getting one (I think I was thin...

Thanks for the discussion and your continued enthusiasm for the Yo2. When I designed the blade for the Yo2, I took a lot of inspiration from the Manix2, both because I like the way it cuts and because, as a Golden-made product, its manufacture respresented a known core competency for Spyderco. Comb...

i carry my yo2 as my regular EDC and i have yet to run into a task where i felt the tip could be abused. i have done minor prying with the tip (like removing rubber boarders from a screen porch) and it has performed flawlessly. I feel very comfortable using the tip for EDC tasks. It just feels like...

I am not worrying about the tip at all. I'd us the Y2 for any tasks I would use my Strider SNG for..... I hope that helps. The Y2 is a hard use knife for general woods use. Batoning any folder is only used in a time of crisis. Pretty sure you mistyped. The Yo2 is not designed with the woods in mind...

http://www.rayrogers.com/rayzor33.jpg The Rayzor Mark II Style 84661 if thats what you were talking about, it bears no resemblance of a razor to me... I am actually really considering modding mine for better openings. I mean its a SD blade, it should have nothing blocking you from getting it open ASAP!

I find this hard to believe. Both seem like good knives and I would be in for both, but I am not holding my breath. 1. The Yojimbo seems like an odd candidate for S90V and CF. 2. The thread seems open ended, no idea what year the exclusives will happen. It is similar to the Blue M4 Para thread, tho...

I'd say that the Yojimbo2 is not really meant to be used for heavy use EDC work. The hollow grind combined with the sharp tip and Wharncliffe shape make it seem to me that it is best used for precise incisions with the tip rather than cutting carpets or any other hard use work. Although it does als...

I have a friend who owns the serrated Police model that was made in ATS-55 back then; I guess it's a collectible now :) Anyway, wouldn't the Civilian fit the description?? The police is STILL offered in spyder edge, and is one of the few that is. So no, not a collectable. A civillian is a purpose b...

lol, perhaps! My skin is sensitive enough for regular shaving, not sure if it would survive "hard shaving". Or is that just another phrase for skinning?
