Re: Power Lock

What do you consider the ideal model? sal Shaman. Or that no choil Shaman you hinted at. I was scrolling down to see if anyone else would suggest this. A really tough blade shape combined with a really tough lock. Cool combo. "The Shaman Power Lock". It sounds good doesn't it? Yeah I don't see the ...

Re: Power Lock

It’s a similar concept to the Tri-Ad lock isn’t it? With an extra contact point for the blade tang? I think It’s slightly overkill though tbh. Maybe for an outdoorsy type knife it would be nice. I'm sure there's a function vs cost factor that has to balance out, especially when competing with their...

Re: Reveal 6 - blacked out Autonomy 2’s (3).

What is your guys thoughts about PE, SE or CE in a knife like this? I used to be all about PE knives and just have gotten more into SE models. I was originally thinking maybe going for the CE version but it seems a lot of dislike for CE models out there. For this price i want to get the right one t...

Re: H-1 Questions

I spoke with a guy a few years ago who had a Pacific reground full flat, about whether or not he felt there was any increase in "work hardening" and he said he felt no difference in edge retention whatsoever. That whole topic is still a mystery.

1. Yes it's solid, one of the few solid ZDP options. The ZDP Ladybug is solid as well. 2. It's a thumb hole as well as a trade mark. I believe there was some clause in the trade mark that requires them to use the hole on all of their knives (though don't quote me on that, I seem to remember it menti...

Re: Major Dilemma!

I left management about 5 years ago. I just got sick of having to tell grown adults to do their jobs. I changed careers and managed to make more than I did in management, but for a while I did take a huge (30%) pay cut. I learned that for me money can't replace happiness in a job. Work is such a hug...

Yeah I didn't read it clearly. This will be a really subjective topic then, because ease of sharpening depends on a lot of factors.

Re: What steel balances attributes best?

I think LC200N is THE best all around EDC steel. I find that it grinds and sharpens easier than VG10 and takes a fantastic edge with minimal effort. Most people may not need all out rust proof steels but it does make for the lowest maintenance knife you could ask for. I don't have to worry about my ...

Re: Wharncliffe's

Big fan of wharnies here, and the Yojimbo 2 was definitely a part of that but also just the basic blade shapes of the Delica, Manix 2 and some others that have a shallow belly and a low blade tip. The low blade tip is really more important to me than the amount of belly because it provides much bett...

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

I wouldn't even attempt this with only the brown rods. It might be technically possible but it already takes a good amount of time with diamond/CBN rods. It's REALLY important to remember to use a light touch if you're doing this or you WILL ruin your diamond/CBN rods. You can't expect to press hard...

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

I reprofiled my RJ on the Sharpmaker using the 30° setting with the CBN rods. Much less snaggy now but still not as slicey as my Delica. Yeah, at this point you start running into the usual criteria that makes a blade slice well regardless of the edge type, so the thinner blade with the thinner gri...

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

Hmm. And did the Caribbean come with more rounded teeth? Or did you sharpen them that way? I wonder if it’s time to switch to CNCing serrations instead of using grinding wheels. Probably cheaper in the long run you would think. Both came rounder and it's been reprofiled more so definitely not a fai...

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

Can the RJ push cut that? My Pacific 2 can push cut those onceI start the cut with a tiny slicingmovement. It does once I initiate the cut, as you said with a little slicing motion and then it'll push through significantly cleaner than when trying to slice through, and that just shows the issue is ...

I got a package today in a bubble envelope. I pulled out my Rock Jumper expecting to slice it open but...not so much.
