I don't care about the faster slower debate. I'm a first responder over 30 years. I don't care about ignorant tip up opinions. As a first responder I will never acknowledge any tip up arguments. Period. This is the first time I'm hearing this but sounds like what you're saying is first responders d...

Thick, heavy blades are awesome. Unless you actually need to cut something. They’re not so good at that.

Re: Idea: Lanyard Tube Removal Tool

The trick I do with the Manix 2 is only remove the tube from the scales, not the liner. If you remove the liners you run the risk of needing to re-flare the tube.

Lanyard tubes are stupid. We’d be better off with aftermarket lanyard attachments that bolt on somehow.

So, any tips for getting the most out of the 8cr13mov? Sharpening advice, etc?
It’s super easy to sharpen. Similar to 440C and other unexciting stainless steels.

Re: Where is my Bow River ?

In stock on eBay for $32.50 shipped from one seller (looks like he has more than 10 available - I bought mine from him and received it very quickly). Looks like all gone. I was about to buy one but didn't want to pay sales tax and it happened to be in my state. Silly to fuss over a few dollars on a...

Re: Where is my Bow River ?

Just cancelled my order from knifeoutlet.com. They don’t respond to emails and had no update on shipping the knife for two days. I suspect they were lying about having any stock. Who runs a business like that these days? Everybody finds out immediately.

They in stock anywhere else?

Re: Just the brown SM flats

what's confusing about it? polishing to high grits isn't necessary for shaving sharpness. Based on my experience with sandpaper and sharpening plane irons and straight razors I don't see what I consider shaving sharp until 1200 grit. And I sharpen the straight razors to around 5000 grit (2000 will ...

Re: Just the brown SM flats

I’m a little confused how you’re getting shaving sharp on medium stones. Isn’t that around 600 grit? On the UF stones I totally believe it but medium? Wish I could find my medium stone to try to make sure I’m not crazy. Any chance you’re raising a burr? That can give the impression of sharpness but ...

Re: Anyone else interested in a LW Native Chief?

Not sure how to determine this, but if a linerless FRN is just as durbale as linerless G10 (specifically pivot and stop pin areas), then why wouldn't I want a lighter knife? Go crawl eBay for used Spydies. You’ll find plenty of knives from as far back as first gen Delicas (molded clip!) that have c...

Re: Anyone else interested in a LW Native Chief?

My initial reaction is “ewww, I don’t like the current Native LW” but as you mentioned the corners of the scales are too sharp on that and the Manix 2 LW. If they solved that it would be fine. I could go either way on FRN vs G10 on this model. It won’t be that much lighter since it’s already I have ...

Have you checked out the G Sakai H1 knives? https://shop.r10s.jp/v-road/cabinet/01393622/sabiknife-1600-0.jpg This (sorry, ridiculous) thread was worth it just for this. Wasn’t there a fixed blade hawkbill thread that went on for a while? This ticks most of the boxes, plus it’s got Spyderco-style s...

Re: Where is my Bow River ?

The sheath looks fantastic (for the price point). The handle looks way more ergonomic and contoured than I was expecting from the previous videos and photos.

I don't see these in stock anywhere, who actually has them shipping?

Re: Delicafly

Unfortunately, not everyone has the equipment, confidence, skill, or inclination to do that. Besides, it would void the warranty. For some mods I would 100% agree. You can do this with a $10 file and some sandpaper to polish the spine up when you're done. There's no real risk involved and no skill ...

Does Spyderco (and Cold Steel) actually do their own DLC? Or are those blades sent out to a vendor (plating house?)?

Re: Delicafly

So many of these threads can be solved by just buying a cheap belt grinder and going for it. You can make a stubby Delica right now, today. It will take about 5 minutes with an 80 grit belt and a cup of cold water to dip the blade in.

Re: spyderco/esee collab?

Why would two mainstream knife production companies collaborate? ESEE can buy LC200N steel can't they? What would either company gain from the other? IMHO, each is THE leader of its own world. because they would literally be making the knife of my dreams. That’s why you want that blade, not why the...
