Re: designs - evolution - lifting

I think Spyderco’s design innovations are important, but it’s the build quality that keeps me coming back. And build quality isn’t something that can be knocked off. The compression lock, for instance, is probably at or near the end of its patent protection. But aside from a few custom makers who mi...

ParaMilitary2 CPM-20CV Lime Green G-10 KnifeJoy (USA) was at the dealer before selling out quickly.
At that price, it’s lucky their servers didn’t crash all day.

Re: Z-Cut cuts

Cardboard, huh? That thin blade should glide right through it. I’ve been using it again, today. Still no need of sharpening. I like the design. Very practical. Yeah, this design and steel should require no babying. This is a kitchen knife that’s meant to be used the way most people use their kitche...

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?

I agree that the handle details on the Military are important to its overall ergonomic excellence. I like the PM2 and in some ways it fits my hands better. I have small hands and always thought the Mili would be too big... until I tried one. The choil and groove make it work, even in winter with he...

Re: Smith stones vs DMT stones.

Why are so many people recommending diamond plates for Henckels knives? These are probably 1.4116 steel at 57 HRC. Unless you need diamond stones for some of your Spyderco or or other knives, I'd get a cheap, simple stone. You can get a King combination stone (250 and 1K grit) that will sharpen the...

Re: Smith stones vs DMT stones.

I put 15 years on a C and 15 on a XC, both still cut when they got misplaced. Given back then I was sharpening Gerber 400's, I know they last a long time. Yeah, I’ve had a coarse/fine dual-sided DMT 10” stone since 2002, and haven’t been gentle like I should, and it’s still cutting. If you’re not d...

Re: Spyderco 2019 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

My question is simple and my complaint valid , why are we having such an overly hard time getting desirable knives? This trend in 2019 is not something I am willing to support any longer. My last 5 purchases of knives have gone to Buck and Cold Steel. If things continue as they have I do not see th...

You're not going to get better edge retention from Elmax. It may have other attributes you want, but it's not in 110V's league in terms of wear resistance.

Re: What is meant by "distal taper"?

Distal taper is when the blade stock gets thinner as it gets farther (more distant) from the grip. Proximal taper would be when the stock thins as it gets closer to the grip. Because a lot of people don't know what "distal" actually means, you'll sometimes hear ANY taper in stock thickness along the...

Re: Sal - Plans re: Mantra 4?

The action is definitely a weakness. I just haven't found any flippers that can compete with ZT. I honestly think that maybe Spyderco should focus on their core design principles (ergonomics) and leave the pocket jewelry to ZT. This must be one of those cases where it's good that I haven't experien...
