Re: Why do you carry a knife?

I carry a knife primarily because (1) I enjoy knives and (2) I enjoy thinking about creating new knife designs. Carrying a knife every day helps me determine what I like/dislike and it also gives me inspiration for new designs. On certain occasions, I also carry a knife so that I can cut stuff. ;) ...

Re: Help! I need to be talked out of getting a Sebenza.

The best advice I can give is to stop by a knife shop in your area (if possible) and check one out in person. See if it speaks to you...or not. The CRKs are very well made and have an excellent reputation. I have a Sebenza, but I seldom carry it because I much prefer the Round Hole over thumb studs....

I really like it too, both for its looks and for the way it feels. There is a gentleman on IG who makes his own denim Micarta and it is beautiful. (He also has an online store where he sells his handmade handle materials too).

Re: If you served in the military, do you have any funny stories?

Good stories. I never served in the military, unfortunately, but I did have a good friend/co-worker who was a former Marine. (Yes I know, "once a Marine, always a Marine" ;) ). My friend once told us a funny story about a fellow Marine who had just returned from furlough. While on furlough, the Mari...

Re: Which salt knife?

You really can't go wrong either way, IMO. But if I had to chose between the two, I would probably suggest the Salt 2. I have the black-on-black Salt 2 version and I really like it. It looks and feels just like a Delica in hand, but the Salt 2 also feels a bit more "robust" thanks to a slightly thic...

Re: Happy Birthday SpyderNut

Wow, thank you all very much for the nice words and kind birthday wishes! Today was a good day. I was able to get off work a little early and enjoy a nice ribeye steak with my wife at our favorite steakhouse. Later, we enjoyed my wife’s delicious birthday cake and opened a few gifts. Thanks again! -...

I feel the same way, Darby.
I’m not surprised. Appalling.
Same here. It’s kind of sad, really, because I usually come here to escape the stress from work, etc. :(

Sorry, I feel stupid. I am on my phone and they are hard to see. Oops.
For a moment there, I thought you were referring to a dot numbering system, much like the elaborate dot/dash date system used by Case Knives. :D

Re: Spyderco's Best All Time TACTICAL Classics: Your Pick?

Speaking of the Terzoula model I got one just a bit better than that model. The C-50 Centofante model with that "ice pick" type blade design is truly a "tactical titan" in it's own rite. I would love to see a fixed blade version of that one  The C-54 big Calypso model can also be put in the "...

Re: Hello and Issue with Pro-Venator

Welcome to the Forum, Tony. :) I am sorry to hear about the loss of your father. Losing a loved one is never easy, but it is nice that your father left you the Pro-Venator to remember him by. As for the issue with the rubber inserts, I would first contact Spyderco's Warranty and Repair Department an...

Re: Scale shaping - tooling & methods

Hi Dave, I think you should be okay using the piloted SS router bit as long as you go slowly and use medium RPMs. I’ve successfully “milled” slots into G-10 using a Dremel and a 1/8” router bit (running 10k to 15k RPMs). I’ve also used the stone sanding points (for chainsaw sharpening) and 1/4” sand...
