Re: Spyderco fixed blade knives

Hi Reject,
Great pics, thanks for posting. What would you say are your top 3 or 5 fixed blades?

Eric has been considering doing a remake of the Temperance 2. What steel would be preferred?

sal
Superblue or Hap40! (assuming it has to be a Japanese steel)

Re: Lil Chokwe

Hi Zrows, More than likely. They made the proto I've been carrying. sal Thaichung produces some great quality knives and the first Chokwe was/is a phenomenal knife. One of the things that keeps me from carrying it more is the weak detent... it opened in my pocket once (tip up carry). I would just a...

Any suggestions on steel? My first thought was K390, but they aren't planning on making any until OCT '19, though we probably won't have the design finalized until then.

sal
Super Blue would be awesome in thinner stock as well.

The Delica is the current plan. I've got a drawing, now to see if the maker can get to the odd specs. Very thin edge, high hollow grind, high hardness steel, etc.

Sal, Please bring back the pointy tip... please, please! This is what I miss most from the old version.

PE for me too. I love my BBS version.
Yes, I love my SE version so much that I was looking at the PE BBS version, but then I started thinking how much better it would be in Hap40 (given Japanese production, as opposed to Rex45).

Lil' Matriach Sprint in Hap40?

I was using my VG-10 Lil' Matriach the other day and what a powerful cutting tool that little blade is... it can hack through small tree branches with no problem. All that made me think... wouldn't a Hap40 sprint run be fantastic? We've had sprint run in the Delica, Endura, Dragonfly, Ladybug, Manbu...

Re: CPM Rex 45

Thanks! This has been the only Sprint Run in recent memory I've ever wanted from Spyderco that I've missed out on, so I consider myself very fortunate. Knife Center's reply when I asked was that "When we were doing our inventory, we found one on the shelf." Lucky, lucky! Actually... I didn't have an...

Re: CPM Rex 45

Well, I got my Paramilitary 2 Rex 45 sprint run in the mail today. Everything looks spot-on. Blade centering is great, smooth action. I inspected and compared it to my other PM2's and everything looks consistent... bug logo on blade and pocket clip is the same; other logos are the same. Jimping is c...

Re: CPM Rex 45

I'd guess a return at this point. But, I'd give it a thorough look over see if it looks like it's been taken apart. If you're handy with your knives, you could probably tune it in properly even if it had been and determine if there's an issue with it. Do you have any other PM2's to compare it with?...

Looks like they also had a Para 2 available... we'll see if I get it, or maybe it was a fluke.

Re: Serrata

I like the design, size, ergonomics, steel... none of that was an issue for me. The main stopper was the 6mm blade stock thickness. I just don't need/want a knife that thick and heavy. Was that thickness necessary for casting 440C? Can you cast 440C in a thinner stock?

Re: The Waterway Will Be Mine...

I'll tell a quick story. When I come in from fishing there is a small dirt area where people park at the beach. One of the local guys who is on the lower rung of societal success shows up there every day and wears an orange vest and designates himself as the parking lot assistant and "guard". You r...
