Re: Number of Spyderco Knives in your collection

Yep, this is where we come to "justify" our collections. Guys like the Deacon and Yablonowitz make our collection size seem more "normal" :D. I remember the first time I saw a picture of a "Military wheel" (8 or 10 Military's arranged like the spokes of a wheel) I was amazed. Now that seems like "a ...

Re: Spyderco Native5 40th Anniversary Sprint Run

These are beautiful. Just curious, Are you guys going to carry them, or are they more of a display piece to you? I've carried mine some. I just have so many nice Spydies, it's hard to get them all into rotation. I'm in no danger of wearing any of them out. I sit at a computer all day, don't cut muc...

Re: Favorite Portable Spyderco Sharpening Tool? And Why?

I love the Doublestuff, especially since I got mine on clearance-price many years ago :). I kept mine in the center console of my truck. Unfortunately, the Texas summer heat was too much for the glue that held the medium stone and find stone together, and I haven't got around to trying to epoxy them...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Received my 40th Anniv. Native 5 last week. Sage 5 should arrive tomorrow.
And next week KC should be shipping my LtWt brown Manix 2 in XHP.

Re: CTS-XHP??

My latest acquisition is a KnifeCenter exclusive Native in XHP and I'm loving it thus far :D I'm glad Spyderco's line-up of knives in XHP is still growing; it's a great steel and I'm sure we'll see plenty of sprints/models with this steel in the future :) Did you notice that KnifeCenter now has an ...

Re: Spyderco Native5 40th Anniversary Sprint Run

I received mine in the mail yesterday. It feels quite a bit lighter than the fluted Ti Native 5, not surprisingly. I haven't had a chance to do much with it yet or take any pictures. It definitely came *very* sharp. I'll try to get some pics later.

Re: Spyderco Native5 40th Anniversary Sprint Run

I just received a call from KnifeCenter, informing me that my order for the fluted CF Native 5 won't be filled, because they were informed by Spyderco that they won't be proceeding forward with this model :(. Sooo sad, I was really looking forward to it - I had 2 on preorder. I already own 3 or 4 f...

Re: Customer Disservice?

Glad to hear you will be receiving a replacement sheath! I know you only mentioned making a sheath for one other knife, but if for some reason you wanted more, say if you started experimenting with the Spyderco Mule Team series (which don't come with sheaths) another option is Mike Sastre of River C...

Re: Why the Native 5 in Maxamet?

I have never held a Native. Heretic! Run him out of town! :D Just kidding, Spyderco gives us a wonderful variety of designs since we are all individuals and have different tastes. Off the top of my head, I think I own around 10 Native 5's (Let's see, 3 fluted Ti, 3 GITD, a couple of the green S110V...

Re: Spyderco Chubby Appreciation

I love my Chubby. I've had it since they first were available. Like you said, slices pretty nicely, it's very comfortable for me, fun to fondle. The bit of CF inlay looks nice, and is just enough to give me traction, so I don't find it slippery. I've considered picking up a backup of it now that the...

Re: What ever happened to CoS3?

Is CoS3 the same thing as the Cobalt Special, as used in MT09? I have pretty much all mules from MT05 (9Cr18Mo) onward, including K390, yet somehow the Mule I have used the most is the Cobalt Special. I know others are "better", but I find no fault with it, it just works. I mostly whittle and make s...

Re: What's up with USPS?

I guess I'm fortunate, I've had much better luck with USPS than with UPS or FedEx. Since my house is in an older neighborhood, the mail carrier still walks house-to-house to deliver, no mailboxes out at the street for kids to bash in, or cluster of mailboxes like you would have at an apartment compl...

Re: Humans in hand to hand combat against animals?

Human teeth and fingernails are no match for a big cat's or bear's claws and teeth, not to mention our slower reflexes, weaker muscles. If the animal is hungry and in its element and surprises the human, no of course it is not match. Face-to-face, I'd still not want to risk it. Cats can disembowel o...

Re: Sell me on the Firefly

I really like my Firefly. Even though I had read comments about how small it was before I got it, it still surprised me just *how* small it is in hand vs. in the pictures. Mine came with a fairly obtuse grind on it, so it doesn't seem like a real slicer. I've spent a little time with the Sharpmaker ...

Re: Knifeworks M4 PM2!

I got mine in the mail yesterday. The USPS box looked all muddy and a little banged up, but that is not the fault of KW :). The contents inside were well padded and protected. I could not find any issues at all with my knife. I didn't switch the clip around, but I did check all the screw holes and n...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

Yep, I ordered a backup K2 from KW for $144.95, cheaper than KC by $5. My first K2 does take a bit of effort to close, but I like it well enough that for that price I got a backup. KW says they will ship out Tues. I almost ordered a backup Chubby as well, it's a cool little knife that I do really li...

Re: Why the Endura beats the Military

I think the Endura may seem like a better value for the cost. To me they both are very wonderful knives, comfortable in the hand, have been made in wonderful Sprint steels ( and the "regular" steels of VG10 and S30V are actually pretty decent). In *my* opinion the (fluted Ti) Military is prettier th...
