Unfortunately, it seems like some models don't "click" for me until right after they get discontinued and hard to find . I finally decide I like the looks of a model, then can't find it available.
I had never heard of Campsaver before. I sure hope they are a reliable outfit. In spite of owning several hundred Spyderco's, I didn't yet own a Shaman. I ordered one from them now, we'll see how it goes. Dang, that's something like 5 new knives I've bought this past couple of weeks, I need to stay ...
A Para3 CF/52100 (I love my Military, Manix2 and PM2's in 52100) from KC, and a Caribbean, a Spyderco "Crafted for Life" T-shirt, 2nd DoubleStuff 2, along with a free Spyderco Shop Mat from BHQ. I really need to stop looking at all the new stuff coming out, I can't resist it!
I think Sal recently stated in another thread that more kitchen knives are under development. For myself, I appreciate the ease of sharpening something like Super Blue, but I would probably not buy a non-stainless kitchen knife; I tend to maybe do a quick rinse of knives, then set them on the counte...
So many beautiful models to choose from, my current "favorite" sometimes evolves. But in addition to the nice fluted Ti Native 5 mentioned already (Ihave 3 of them) the fluted Ti Military is nice in any version of original anodizing or just satin: https://i.imgur.com/aOJAwuoh.jpg And then there is t...
Though I don't really have any talent, I probably spend more knife-use time whittling than anything else, and I have some 2- and 3-bladed buck knives I use; they were only about $10 or $15 at Walmart. It's just a very competitive market, I don't see how Spyderco could make enough profit on it, unles...
I love my Bradley Air, and need to carry it more often. I think the scales are beautiful, but I remember several people posting about NOT liking the color of them when it cam out. Some people resorted to dying them, I think with red RIT dye. There was a thread with pictures of it somewhere on here. ...
I love the Military models, and really enjoy the variety of handle and blade-steel configurations. Here are a couple of fluted-titanium scaled Military models.
Nice summary. Warning, hanging out in this forum can be a slippery slope, it starts to seem normal to own multiple versions of the same model, to obsess over the latest super steel, to learn more and more about caring for your edges... before you know it, you own dozens of Spyderco knives, (or heave...
Somehow I missed reading your review when first posted, just read it now. Great review. Only problem is that nobody seems to have the SpydieChef in stock anywhere . I'm sure I'll end up buying one sooner or later.
Great thread Lance! While I don't have as corrosive of an environment as you, there are times when I'm wet with sweat or rain and really appreciate a knife that won't rust, and have been excited about the new Spyderco knives in LC200N. I do carry a PE Dragonfly salt a lot, but typically also have Do...
Thanks for the review. Spyderco does do a good job even on their "economy" models. I don't actually have an Ambitious currently - I sold mine to my sister so she could gift it to her son one Christmas, and I haven't got around to replacing it yet. (Don't worry, I do have over 300 other Spydies to ke...
Deadboxhero, you've got a lot more experience with your DoubleStuff2 than I do with mine. I've just had mine a few weeks. I also have a couple of the original DoubleStuffs, kept one in each vehicle. I think the Texas summer heat it a little hard on them though, one of mine came apart (the glue seems...
I have both the older 202 and a 204 unit. I believe the 202 is set for 40 degrees. Mine came with both medium and fine rods, and I also bought diamond "sleeves" that slid over the rods. Do upgrade to the 204, but don't throw out your 202 - I keep mine handy for when I misplace my 204, or just want t...
Sounds like an interesting challenge, one which I would not be able to commit to. Owning somewhere over 350-400 knives (plus kitchen knives and machetes) I'd be more likely to carry a * different * knife every day for a year :). In fact I can't remember the last time I carried *less* than 3 to 6 kni...
I haven't heard of any drawbacks for Almond milk other than the mentioned case of as an ingredient when cooking. One advantage to me is that is has a lot longer shelf life than cow milk. As a single guy I have a difficult time finishing off a container of milk before it spoils, but almond milk lasts...
Probably just allowing for the fact that they may ship to California, and I have seen LOTS of stuff with that warning that didn't seem at all likely to really have lead. If somewhere along their assembly line a part might have been exposed to another piece that had solder, or some other silly reason.
Used my HAP40 Meerkat to open... another box of spydies from BHQ - a Jade M4 Para 3, and a Jade Hap40 Lum Chinese. I really gotta quit looking at Spydies while I'm out of work!
How fortunate that I logged into the forum to see this post today. I haven't been on the forum in quite awhile - I've been out of work for quite awhile, and it just gets that much more painful to get excited about new models that I can't afford, but I'm going to find a way to get this one.
