Spyderco Sharpmaker make me happy

Hello: http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/8387/p1010537u.jpg Out of the box, the Kershaw Tyrade I have did not cut that well. I reprofiled it using an Edgepro Apex, then it cut better. I broke down alot of cardboard boxes recently and noticed the Tyrade having difficulty smoothly slicing. I just touched...

spyderco paramilitary d2

hi: i just got into spyderco last year, 2009. I ordered a Paramilitary D2 when it was on Spyderco's webstore closeout section. I didn't know what to expect to Spyderco because I only read about the brand online, never handled one. I carried it for awhile but just "retired" it into a emergency prep/e...

need a bigger toolbox

sweet answers, i will add Q-tips for the hard to reach dirty areas. I'll also add a toothbrush to clean out G10 handles. I'll look into the stropping material. I'm very happy with the results i get with the sharpmaker and ultrafine rods, but maybe to experiment later. I can see the stropping kit get...

Another contra dancer? Yay! I've never had that happen, but we don't do wrist bands. What's a contra dance? ... my story: i just got a spydie ladybug h1 serrated. i'm used to the opening/closing the paramilitary d2, so when i closed the ladybug, part of my finger was still in the way of the blade. ...

nice compact knife

i held one at a store. very lightweight and solid lockup. seemed pretty thick. i had trouble opening it though, maybe with practice it would get easier (or the spydie holes got me spoiled). nice looking piece, maybe i'll get one if the price drops.

hi: I use a ladybug h1 serrated to open up boxes, score oranges to make peeling them easier, and open up plastic blister packs. For cutting steaks, I use a Benchmade 551H2O Orange Griptilian Plain Edge. Way sharper than the steak knives at restaurants. I'm thinking of getting a pacific salt for meat...

Hi Water Bug: Thanks for the link, I tried out the stroping on cardboard as shown in the pictures after doing the 10:1 (passes in front :p asses in back) with the brown then white stones. The Emerson is incrementally better than what it was earlier. I should definitely spend more time practicing and...
