The only thing it needs is a thinning out of the edge angle. Mine is rather obtuse with one side over 40 degrees. I'll probably bring it down to about 25 degrees and run a micro bevel. My only concern is that at that angle the edge bevel will widen out a lot and be very thick behind the edge. Maybe ...

It doesn't need much persuasion but I like a dark black patina. I just use that formula for all my carbon blades and I like it.

Mine arrived today. I already started a patina. I've had great results with three 1-hour soaks in apple cider vinegar with a good rinse and dry in between. Image

It sounds like some debris has worked it's way into the pivot area and both jammed up the pivot and compromised the tolerances the bushing is supposed to keep. Either take it apart and clean it or if you don't feel comfortable with that clean it real well with HOT water and dish soap to try to flush...

It sounds more like a burr on the liner than the FRN. FRN is very soft compared to steel. Are you sure?

http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?58681-Show-Your-Patina ! Not just Super Blue knives in this thread but there are a bunch of Super Blue knives in it. Not much forcing necessary with SB. One granny smith apple will really kick it off! I didn't force mine at all but cut up a lot of apple...

I look forward to the laminated blade. It will help prevent rust in the South and will probably look pretty cool with a ribbon of black patina near the edge. Anyone force a patina yet?

The Domino has quickly become my new favorite and will surely be inducted into my "hall of fame" along with the Stretch and Para2. I would love to see a Sprint or two of the Domino! They could do G-10 for the handle to mitigate some of the cost of more expensive steel.

Welcome! I had an "ah-ha" moment when I cut up about a dozen large moving boxes with a proper knife and noticed it wasn't butter knife dull after the second one; in fact I could hardly tell the difference in sharpness from when I started. I think you may have found the most helpful and polite (mostl...

I wouldn't say it's THE slicer but it does pretty well for a knife made with 4mm stock. The only time I notice it is with apples. It flies though cardboard. I prefer a Stretch or Chokwe or Caly 3/3.5 for a slicer.

I once had an issue with micro chipping with ZDP-189 on the sharp maker from using too much pressure. Use light pressure and you're GTG.

Basically, black and blue colors are patina and that will actually add some protection against orange and red colors which are rust and should be removed immediately.

Yes, I saw the pics and mine is nearly identical and also goes under the scales. It must've been a small misadjustment of something on S90 grinding day.

Disclaimer: I've only read the first post

My CF Para 2 has a nearly identical scratch and came that way from the factory. Mine is a user so no biggie for me, YMMV.

The only Caly I've been disappointed with was the 3.5 superblue because of play at lockup. All the others have been great.
