D3 ATS-55 SE

I have probably spent thousands over the past 10-15 years on replacements, but nothing has ever taken their place and, though they look it after all the miles and hours, they are still part of my every, every EDC.

So what's the verdict on the backspacer? Looks like, ummm, synthetic engineering material ;) to me but I haven't disassembled the knife.

So, here's another question. This isn't intended to dis this knife at all, just so that's clear. I'm wondering - the "button" or slider that withdraws the lock is plastic. If it were to break, I assume the knife would become inoperable. I wonder if we're going to read about breakage of this part? (T...

I was actually surprised to notice that there is no fastner at that end. The Manix 2 appears to be held together principally by the pivot screw and the two screws at the pivot end. I'm sure it's secure enough, given the beefy liners, but I think I would have expected at least one more screw?

I got one today. Two reactions:

1. This is much bigger than I'd expected - I was thinking Delica/Caly3 size!

2. I'd always thought that the best F&F in a Spyderco was the Caly3. Wow, this one is fully the equal of the (remarkably nice) Caly3.

Nice job, Sal & co.!!!

An updated version in the near future would be great.
Yes, but you'll definitely enjoy reading the book as far as it goes. Highly recommended!

I carry IWB on the left side just left of center. I carry tip up with the clip moved for "left hand" use. I angle the clip so it starts to the left of the belt loop and angles down/right through the loop behind the belt. This keeps the knife less visible, makes it less likely to poke me when sitting...

Sharpmaker Rods - Are These Normal?

Hi...quick question on the rods on my Sharpmaker, which has been giving good service for five years or so. Most of the rods are kind of "warped" (must have come out out of production that way) and several of the edges (not the flats) have rough spots where there must have been a casting irregularity...

My experience is all over the ballpark. There does not appear to be any standard machinery or calibration, nor any standard interpretation by security personnel, at US airports (or secured US federal/state buildings, for that matter). There are trends that you're probably well aware of, though. Swis...

Bent 204 ceramic stones?

The ceramic (white) stones on my 204 are not straight -- they're somewhat bowed, in contrast to the brown stones, which are perfectly flat and straight. I'm not sure this is a big issue, but I'm curious whether anyone else has noticed the same? It seems to me that this could result in the edge angle...
