The Other Forum

Just discovered a thread in the Other Spyderco forum lobbying Sal for low-ride clips. If this is something you are interested in, now is the time to speak up.

Can't comment on the authenticity of Sevillian Steel, though if you are interested in historical texts you may be interested in Mr. Loreiga's annotated translation of the Manual of the Baratero which is available from Paladin. That said, having had the opportunity to train with James Loreiga, Mike J...

I don't know if they're still there, but Edge of the World in Brentwood was a pretty good store (full retail, but good selection and good people). I don't know if they are still in business, but I remember when they used to be at Jack London Village in Oakland in the 80's. That was a knife store! :...

San Francisco Area Spyderco sources

The place you guys are talking about is called The Shaver & Cutlery Shop , as Woody said its located at 4930 Telegraph Ave, which is in Oakland near the intersection with 51st Street. They have some funky hours on the weekend, so call if you are going then. Excellent selection of production kniv...

I don't recall the issue of a low rider pocket clip being brought up that much around here or to Sal. Based on the way he listens to his ELUs I'd say he will be all ears though if the general consensus is that this is what the public would like to see. Oh, its come up before: http://spyderco.com/fo...

I think it is best to have just a slight hint of the knife showing so you are not accused of concealing it or so it makes it harder to prove that is what you are doing. Very nicely done. That's the ticket! Obviously a lot of demand for this style of clip, hint hint. :spyder: I don't, however, share...

I think I installed in a while ago and it had a bunch of Spyware in it.. Don't remember. I doubt that it was the Google tool bar that gave you Spyware. Their products are very clean. It also is customizable, so you can turn off the features you don't trust. Personally I use the search window, spell...

Why not carry the folder like a fixed blade? Sounds dumb, but if laws forbid you from carrying a fixed blade, just carry the folder open in a sheath. Carry something that doesn't look like a weapon, a screwdiver perhaps? I'm sure you could put an edge on one of those... Can't speak for all states, ...

Can anyone confirm exactly what clips from the Knifekits website fits what knives? Any or none or only some? I fancy new clips for my Yojimbo and Lum Tanto. Ha anyone got any experience of them? I would assume none. My understanding is that you would need to have additional holes tapped to use thes...

This is the point at which I always chime in and say "Please Sal, give us low ride clips" like the ones pictured in this thread, (at least as an option). I can't count how many knives I have rejected or which languish in the infamous sock draw because they are too indiscreet to carry about...

Once again, thanks to everyone for a cool thread. While I appreciate the significance of the quote from Carl Cestari and the spirit behind it, my primary concern is self-protection . . . snip . . . Following up on what Jim and Chad posted. Someone recently sent me a copy of this thought provoking essay by Carl Cestari. "The Knife Defense Myth" by Carl Cestari Instead of talking about a lot of b.s. concerning so-called unarmed "knife" defenses, let's reverse roles for a mome...
