Re: How I operate the Compression Lock as a Leftie

Left thumb while using a conventional grip...... then use my index finger to catch the choil...... Is there something I'm missing? That's operating it like a backlock, which in my opinion negates the advantages of a compression lock (one step drop shut closing upon lock operation)... And of course,...

Re: Vote for Spydies! Knifenews 3rd Annual Readers’ Choice Awards Poll 2020

Yikes, I live in a different time zone so I thought there was still gonna be more time! LOL. Anyway, I'm happy that the Nightstick won! Let's stay tuned for more awards the following days. Congrats Sal, Gayle Bradley and Co.! https://knifenews.com/spyderco-nightstick-voted-best-new-tactical-knife-20...

Re: How I operate the Compression Lock as a Leftie

Thank you for the observations. :) Using this method, even while just starting up and practicing slowly, I have never ever dropped any of my compression locks this way. Not even my very slim Ikuchi. Any other way of closing the compression lock left handed, I have had many close calls of falling. T...

Re: Why the hate of Zome?

Not hate... I actually like the green zome, if anything, because it looks like well-done camo. But the other pairings just look like solid colors muddied with black paint. And DLT'S latest exclusive could have been stellar had it gone for a solid red instead of zome so that it'll match their other r...

Re: How I operate the Compression Lock as a Leftie

Looks like the southpaws are engaging this morning :) Looking at the video, that method of closing seems really unpractical, with pretty high possibily of the knife dropping if not in controlled conditions. Thank you for the observations. :) Using this method, even while just starting up and practi...

Re: Crazy Good Deals Part 2!!

This isn’t a bad deal for a Chinook https://www.dlttrading.com/spyderco-chinook-4 Does anyone know if DLT charges for tax on out-of-state purchases? I have my knives from DLT shipped to my freight forwarder at New Jersey and New York. No additional sales tax. California though, I haven't tried buyi...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Shoot carry. Wow, looks like a really professional equipment! :) / How do you like the Watu? I am really tempted by its thin, slicey blade and the long cutting edge... And: How do you like the Skeletool? I sold mine eventually (had the 154 cm version). Kind of cool, but I found if one carries a ded...

Re: How I operate the Compression Lock as a Leftie

...My personal method of operating the lock involves clipping the knife between my index and remaining fingers, leaving the thumb free to press the lock. With my index finger pressing firmly against the right scale where the compression lock is located, I have a more secure purchase on the knife an...

My personal method of operating the lock ...
That was the coolest thing that I saw all day! :D
I tried it and it is soooo cool :D and quite efficient too.

Thanks! I hope it can be an option for closing your compression locks too. :)

With another thread recently discussing the left-handed PM2 as well as left-handed user's opinions with left-handed compression lock operation, I made a video showing how I open and close my compression lock knives. ... Re: How I operate the Compression Lock as a Leftie

I put my index fingertip in the Spyderhole and operate the release with my thumb. Are my other fingers in the path of the edge? Probably, but I have the blade under positive control with my index finger all the time, so I have plenty of time to move any flesh out of harm's way. I actually do that m...

Re: How I operate the Compression Lock as a Leftie

That seems tricky. I just press the lock release with my thumb and nudge the blade partially closed with my index finger, then move my fingers out of the way and finish closing. I'll edit this post with a video after work. https://streamable.com/152p5f Easier with, well, any other comp lock knife. ...

Re: Finally picked up a Caribbean

I carry my SE Caribbean almost every day. It’s heavier than I normally prefer, but it’s just so perfect! It’s the package I long craved: FFG SE, rustproof, compression lock, edge all the way to the handle, grippy synthetic scales with a guard and pinky hook. So great! Every time I think about a dif...

Re: Wildland Firefighters Knife

This thread had me watch "Only the brave" a few days back, when I had some spare time to spend in front of the TV. As far as I can tell, it is a well made movie that provides a somewhat realistic insight into a very special occupation. And manage not ruin it trying to make it more "entertaining" by...

Re: Posters

Over the years I've collected some of Spyderco's posters. I think the ones I got were intended for dealers that have shops to serve the public. One poster I got that has a potential for a lot of controversy that I got in a trade way back in the late 90s. It is a Spyderco Poster advertising the orig...

Looks okay to me. The screw might be a case of anodizing issues. Wouldn't worry about it.

On the thanx letter, I think nowadays it usually only comes with sprints and exclusives, but I could be wrong.

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread

I am enjoying this knife for its F&F and smooth action; the wait for it's release was worth it. I think the clip was okay, but I think the wire clip would be ideal as well. I had a titanium deep carry clip for my Native and decided to mount it to my Swayback. I think its much better now. https://i....
