Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Arrived yesterday. I love it already! :spyder: https://i.imgur.com/OtmXlIS.jpg Awesome dye job on the handle! I'm waiting on a Karahawk. It's iffy as an EDC given our local knife laws... there are no restrictions on the public carry of manually-opening folding knives as work/utility tools, b...

Nice pic! That's what I carry too! Nothing worse than losing a knife on the trail. The Dragonfly is so light I don't even know it's there.
Thanks! The Dragonfly 2 Salt is the perfect IWB knife for running for me.

Re: Knife opened in my pocket.

- One thing that I maybe could see being an issue with backlocks: While they are way less likely to actually OPEN in the pocket, maybe they are more prone to not being FULLY CLOSED due to pocket lint or other stuff "blocking" the lock (and so not being fully CLOSED in the first place)? Just guessin...

Re: Knife opened in my pocket.

Sometimes, pocket lint will find its way to a folder's lock face (or some other part of the pivot/lock mechanism) thus preventing the lock from fully engaging & increasing the likelihood of it opening. I've had this happen in both detent-based locks (a Para 3) & a non-detent based lock (a Delica 4)....

Re: Reveal 3 Released!

And here I've been trying to pare down my knife collection LOL. Definitely getting the Siren--I love the ergos on the Waterway (it's my kitchen utility knife!) and I can see the Siren becoming my go-to "medium/large utility/work folder" (the only >3" folder I currently have is the Polestar). Really ...

A question or two about the Li'l Temperance 3

So, I'm seriously considering a Li'l Temperance 3 for future purchase. Generally, I value design & functionality over outright materials cost: i.e., I don't mind paying as much or more for a knife that fits my hand & use-needs relative to a knife that may be built from more expensive materials but d...

Re: The Wire Clip: express your love, hate, indifference

As with a lot of knife design-related questions, it all depends on usage. I like the discreet, folded-over "deep-carry" version of the wire clip on smaller EDC/"convenience cutter" knives like, say, the UKPK & the Dragonfly 2 & the Chaparral, but I prefer something with more spring tension such as t...

Re: Ronin 2 in CTS-BD1N!

All this makes me wonder if the Cat & the Chicago (which are also Taipei models) will eventually transition to CTS-BD1N, or if this change was specific to the Ronin 2. And I really hope this means that the mainland China factory producing the Alcyone & Polestar will be able to work with CTS-BD1N in ...

Re: Ronin 2 in CTS-BD1N!

I'm also curious to know how people use this knife, as well as how they use their yojimbos. General edc or for specific tasks? My interest in it is as a straight edged utility knife, rather than the strict SD niche. Does anyone have any comments about how it works in that role? I originally got a Y...

Zuludelta, where did you get your Ronin? I'm curious how long it will take the stock to switch over at my preferred retailers.
Blades Canada (a brick & mortar shop in Vancouver, BC). They also have an online shop (warriorsandwonders.com) but can only ship to Canadian & American addresses.

Re: Ronin 2 in CTS-BD1N!

I've always liked CTS-BD1... in my experience it holds a fine edge noticeably longer than VG-10 at the same angle, while being similarly corrosion-resistant. I've had minimal experience with CTS-BD1N (I have it in a UKPK & a Para 3 LW I have since gifted away), but even if it just performs as well a...

Ronin 2 in CTS-BD1N!

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I was always under the impression that the previously-announced gradual upgrade to CTS-BD1N in Spyderco's CTS-BD1 knives was restricted to the Golden models (i.e., the Manix 2 Lightweight & the UK Pen Knife). Imagine my pleasant surprise, then, when I...

Re: Edge retention, real use, edge damage

I think many knife users fixate on edge retention because it is relatively quantifiable through easily-understood "bro science" testing. This isn't a criticism, mind you, just my take on why edge retention is sort of the go-to characteristic when most folks compare steels & why it has become a mains...

Re: Why don't you have more spyderco fixed blades?

I'd love to use my Spyderco Enuff for work and as an EDC, but the reality of it is that despite open-carry of fixed blade knives being legal where I live (British Columbia), it just isn't very socially acceptable outside of, say, backpackers with their companion knives or the local Sikh population w...

Re: What percentage of your Spyderco collection consists of fixed blades?

Just a little over 10% (3 fixed blades--a Waterway, a Schempp Rock, and an Enuff Leaf Blade--out of 28 Spydercos in total). I do plan on purchasing at least 2 more fixed blade Spydercos over the next several months, though (the Ronin 2 in CTS-BD1 and the Enuff Sheepsfoot Salt in H1).

Stop sitting on the fence about the Lil Native. It is a great knife. I was on the fence about this for a long time and I finally jumped off and got one. After I got it I kicked myself for waiting so long to get one. After reading through all of the comments in this thread, I think I am buying a Li'...
