Re: Crazy Good Deals Part 2!!

Hey, heads up, Blade HQ has some of the black bladed M4 Manix XL's back in stock - I got a notification last night and missed it, so I missed out on the regular one (which I wanted), but the coated blade version still has a few in stock. $180. https://www.bladehq.com/cat--Spyderco-Manix-2-XL-Exclus...

Re: Got first Spyderco, somewhat disappointed...

The Native 5 has a true concentric pivot. That means the radius from the pivot pin to the arc of the profile of the tang remains the same throughout the arc. That means there is constant, consistent pressure on the tang throughout the opening arc. Hey, Mike. Maybe I don't completely understand what...

Buddy was at the shop and comparing my Manix 2 to the new Manix XL.
He asked me “why do you need the bigger blade?”
Sounds like a question asked by a guy with a tiny... blade.
Size matters.

Re: Combat Aircraft

My Dad was a DC3 pilot. Another very cool aircraft, especially considering it's a little tin-can that could fly across an ocean. Pretty bold stuff back in those days. I got to fly in one, once. We took off, but never landed. Well... the pilot landed. The rest of us jumped out. The whole plane...

Re: What makes a metal a metal

I was a little surprised that they said "only metals are able to conduct electricity." If they meant that literally, I guess that means that distilled water, people, etc, have enough metal ions in solution to qualify :D I am by no means knowledgable on the atomic structure of metals... but then aga...

Re: The Last Gun You Bought

No new guns, no new pictures. But this afternoon I had a young lady come over with several of her deceased mother-in-law's duty weapons. She wants to learn to shoot, and approached me a couple weeks ago. I've decided that it's my obligation to the youngsters and those who are truly motivated, to sha...

Re: Combat Aircraft

Anyone else interested in these war planes? Well... yeah! An easier to gauge question might be, "Is there anyone here who DOESN'T like old warbirds?" There ain't nothin' as lovely as the music of a big radial. You said your dad was a B-17 jockey? That's pretty bad ***. A few years back, I got the o...

Young lady, my vanilla beans are straight outta Papua New Guinea and much more delicious than your S30V.

Re: Manix 2 XL

I have a serious Spyderco addiction-just got the Manix 2 in the mail yesterday and like it so much, have a Manix 2 XL coming Friday. Right on, brother! My first Spyderco was a Manix 2 LW, and it turned out to be my favorite knife by far. Recently I bagged an XL. My first impression was, "Holy cow! ...

This is why we don't work below other workers and insist that all barriers and barricades are intact. I wonder if hardhats are BD1N Rated.

If you have iOS set to automatically update apps, it does but not at the exact moment the app becomes available on the App Store. I just manually updated.

Re: Manix 2 Lightweight clip screw help!

The fastener is flat on one side, and the hole has a flat spot to match. The fastener should not rotate in the hole. If I needed to repair such a problem, I'd cut a slot with a Dremel, and then use a flat blade screwdriver to remove it. If you do a pretty job, you could reuse the fastener. IMG_7395....

Re: Should I get the Manix 2 LW and the UKPK or something else?

Should I pick them up? Or is there something better in my budget? The Manix 2 LW is a great knife at a great price point, in my opinion. Everything from the bidirectional pattern that provides a great grip, to the wire clip that provides snagless removal from the pocket is spot on. If you're patien...

If there was an award for "Coolest thing on the web today," then you'd take home the prize. The swords are neat, and I love it when the youngin's use their hands, tools, and minds to do things.

I actually bit the bullet and sold one so that now I can always say that it’s ok for me to order knives. I’ll just sell the ones I don’t like. Plan seems to be working :D That's a great philosophy. Re: Spyderco coffee mug

I will probably begin with a 12 oz. mug that is straight sided and the top and bottom are the same size and the handle is large enough and can hang the mug on a hook up or down. I believe this is the most efficient shape. I will see if they make a larger version? I just went down to the kitchen and...
