Re: Replacing a ZDP Endura?

SG2 can't compete with Zdp-189 as far as edge retention. It does sharpen and strop easily, and is more stainless, but you'll notice the decrease in edge longevity. As others have said, Hap40 is a good option. It still lags behind zdp-189 in edge retention, but is tougher and more stable at the edge....

Re: Unpopular Blade Steels That You Like?

For both you guys who registered VG-10 and ZDP-189 that's interesting. Because as recent as a couple or 3 years ago that just wouldn't be true. But in recent years both of them seem to have become somewhat unpopular for certain reasons. And I can't figure out why either. Because neither steel is di...

Re: Real police 4?

Zoomed in, it looks like oil and dust, instead of putting. The grind lines you mentioned, appear to be scratches or oil that was given a quick swipe with the thumb and index finger, leaving behind lines of oil. Whatever it is, the lines are too inconsistent to be grind lines, and the actual grind l...

Re: Real police 4?

First... where did you buy it? Something looks very off to me. Look at those pits at the opening hole. And then look at those grind lines near the top of the pic. But those pits alone are screaming "fake" to me. Nobody else thinks so? https://i.imgur.com/OPzy7RV.jpg Zoomed in, it looks like oil and...

Can we get back to the deals now?
I just posted one trying to get the train back on the tracks
I saw that as I was posting. I'm tired of the off topic conversation clogging up my notifications.

Re: Unpopular Blade Steels That You Like?

AUS-8 for me. It takes a really nice edge quite easily, stays sharp longer than it should for how quickly it sharpens, it's fairly tough and more than stainless enough for me. Never used a Spyderco with AUS-8 though. The steel is far less exciting than more modern powdered steels, but If I could hav...

Re: How do I get rid of lock stick?

Like others have said, open and close the knife a ton. The recent Para 3 I recieved, had a lot of lock stick. It's not the same as a frame lock, but the concept is similar. It took 3 weeks of opening and closing a LOT. Much more than 150. Probably closer to 500 or more. Adjust the tension of the sca...

Re: Future of the Mule Team Project

I don't understand why this need to fix something that was not broken. The Mule was doing great as it was,the only thing hurting the sales was that it was a blank. Not all of us are crafty enough to put even o rope on the tang,so slap some FRN on it and it will sell like crazy, even without a sheath. ...

Re: Future of the Mule Team Project

If the Mule Team return, or something equivalent is announced, that's really going to make a lot of us happy. There has been a lot of steel talk on here lately, which shows a potential increase in the steel junky market. I hope that's the case, helping to keep the potential MT return, a thriving, lo...

Re: Straight Spine Stretch

The Stretch 2 is ok for most uses, but it was designed to be a folding hunter, if I'm not mistaken. The straight spine offers a more utilitarian blade shape, that isn't necessarily as task specific as the standard version. To be clear, for the Stretch fans, I'm not saying it's a bad knife or that i...

Re: Bento Box Something Something....

Hopefully from another vendor, at a reasonable price. Sadly, I don't see that happening. Dlc would be nice on the k390.. but I don't have crazy acid sweat and even though it's always humid or raining haven't had any issues with it yet Why not? Personally, I believe there will be a demand for it, an...

Re: To M4 or not to M4...

This has made me wonder about body chemistry as well. Does one steel react differently than the other? I have no idea. My Rex blade barely has a patina, while my M4 began to rust, and you have experienced the opposite. I'm curious now. Here's a pic of my fairly well worn Mantra taken a few moments ...

My fingers are crossed that there's a para 3 version of this one coming next...I'd be in on that for sure. A manix version would also make my day.
Hopefully from another vendor, at a reasonable price.

Re: KnifeJoy Damascus Delica and Endura

I like that. Scale color almost looks like the denim blue on the Kahr Delica I'm curious about this color. It's on my Emerson Endura. Is it a scale swap or did the Emerson come with this denim indigo color? It's a slightly different shade of blue. This one is a steel blue. They look a little bright...

Re: To M4 or not to M4...

I know everyone is going nuts over rex45 because it ran 67 hrc - but what's stopping m4 from being run that high? Do the components that allow it to be a hot work steel allow it to achieve a higher hardness? The cobalt in Rex45 is what allows the steel to be hardened to 67 hrc. M4 can't reach the s...

Re: To M4 or not to M4...

I disagree that REX45 has more corrosion resistance than M4. My REX45 PM2s blade was the same color as the handle within 2 hours at work. M4 on the otherhand, has only the slightest patina after a year of use. Rex 45 has less carbon and the roughly the same chromium, you shouldn't see more rust, yo...
