Re: Spyderco Military and Paramilitary 2 upcoming sprints and exclusives

I think you found an argument where none was intended, but I'll bite. Which person did the cardboard tests? Was the 4v knife a Spyderco? If not, the data is irrelevant, due to heat treat differences between makers. Argument is a bit of a strong word for what can be instead interpreted as a mutual e...

Re: One Proud Father

Too cute! I have two sets of twins, they all have their own glow in the dark plastic Delicas. The older set have their own Meadowlarks, the only problem being they can’t press the back lock lever down to close them. One of my girls likes my squarehead. Two sets of twins? One can be a handful, I can...

Re: Spyderco Military and Paramilitary 2 upcoming sprints and exclusives

Knifeworks 204P PM2 sold in hours to there's still plenty of demand for another out there. I'm willing to bet the rerun DLT in red goes in less than an hour. If they do a military in that combo it will sell as well as the REX 45 Military I think. Same goes for a tan 20 CV Military. Any PM 2 with st...

Re: Spyderco Military and Paramilitary 2 upcoming sprints and exclusives

4V seems to be in high demand as well. I'm not interested. Personally, I believe folders shouldn't have "tough" steels, that's what we have fixed blades for. To each their own though. I feel you're almost making sound as if 4v is a tough steel that only has that attribute going for it, when it has ...

Modern Classic?

I'd love to see a Native 5 in 1095, with bone handle scales. Maybe a collaboration with Case? Sure would be cool, if only for nostalgic reasons.

Re: Spyderco Military and Paramilitary 2 upcoming sprints and exclusives

I'd rather see Rex45 exclusives. There have been a ton of M390 family exclusives and Rex45 is in high demand. I've heard there will be one this year. This is what I'm holding out for. I doubt REC will do PM2 in 204P, since Knifeworks just did a run of 204P. I could be wrong though. It would only sel...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Are you weak for the knife, color, or steel? We all have our soft spots ;) I am thoroughly enjoying the Brouwer. I haven’t put it away since getting it, and I can see it getting a more carry than most of my knives. There’s nothing I’d change on it unless I was adding a flipper tab, but I know some ...

Re: One Proud Father

That is awesome! What a great way to get daddy daughter time! Might I suggest a plastic delica for the little lady? I’m sure the age limit is 3+years. But any little plastic toy would be. At least she could fondle a “knife” while watching vid’s with her dad supervising maybe. I’d also like to share...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Haha, they know how to sell em! I hope Tuesday comes quickly for you. I’m glad my Brouwer got here on Saturday, or I’d be in the same boat. Holidays are no holiday when you’re waiting on a knife :P They do, but I'm also weak. Thanks, I'm sure I'll find a way to cope. I've been eyeing the...

Re: One Proud Father

I should also add that we now use videos of Spyderco knives to soothe our daughter, when all else fails. Works like a charm!

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

One of the last Cutlery Shoppe orange Manix 2 LW S90V knives... purchased less than 24 hours before they sold out. It would be here today, if not for President's day. I'm gettin' the withdrawal shakes, tomorrow needs to hurry up! Wow, the last 20-30 of those went quick! I bought one a couple months...

One Proud Father

A little history first... About 8 years ago I found Spyderco. At first I was not impressed with the looks, but figured the countless testimonials couldn't all be wrong. A PM2 with dlc blade and digicam handle scales was my first Spyderco. I loved that knife, and even fell in love with the looks, but...

Re: Is there any way to purchase a Native 5 steel liner separately?

Even if a burlap micarta Native 5 sprint was to happen... I can't imagine Spyderco would go back to using steel liners for it. Do you think Micarta alone would have enough structural strength to work linerless (like G10 does?) Honest question, I really don´t know... If I recall correctly, micarta i...

Re: Is there any way to purchase a Native 5 steel liner separately?

Who knows, if there's enough interest from the forum, maybe Sal would consider a sprint? I know there's talk of a Shaman with micarta scales, and Sal was testing a Police 4 with micarta...

Re: I never want to hear about "chippy" steel ever again

Not sure why the need to cut the cardboard at all? Just slice the tape at the join like everyone else does. My keys do this job. Need is a strong word in general. Most people go through life without ever carrying a knife and will never be able to fully understand those who claim "I couldn't leave h...

Opinions Wanted: Top 5 Best Spydercos

I'm curious, what do you consider to be the top 5 Spyderco knives? Based on your own use and preferences. If you feel like going the extra mile... I know some of you really go nuts for the oddball Spydies. Maybe for the weird ones, you could explain why? Do you prefer serrated, partial, or non? Why?...

Re: I never want to hear about "chippy" steel ever again

I bought a Manix 2 back in 2013. That was shortly after Spyderco switched from 154CM to S30V, back when the Manix 2 came standard with a hollow grind. The factory edge chipped on cardboard. No staples, no contact with anything but cardboard. It took a few sharpenings before that issue went away. May...

Re: I never want to hear about "chippy" steel ever again

Not sure why the need to cut the cardboard at all? Just slice the tape at the join like everyone else does. My keys do this job. I cut lots of cardboard boxes(large ones) into small pieces for fire starting in our woodstove, it's free tinder. Large pieces could be used, but that's a waste and tends...
