Re: Your Favorite "Obscure" Spyderco model?

Equilibrium. Exemplifies Ed Schempp's "looks odd, but oddly functional" aesthetic.

Re: Crazy Good Deals Part 2!!

Hey, heads up, Blade HQ has some of the black bladed M4 Manix XL's back in stock - I got a notification last night and missed it, so I missed out on the regular one (which I wanted), but the coated blade version still has a few in stock. $180. https://www.bladehq.com/cat--Spyderco-Manix-2-XL-Exclus...

Re: Behold! The elusive "Dodofly"!

The Dodofly would have a more complicated grind which increases production costs. I suspect it would be closer to $95, but would pleased if it came in nearer to the Salt hawkbill. The matriarch is a reverse s blade endura and costs $14 more than an standard endura. If you add that difference to the...

Re: Behold! The elusive "Dodofly"!

Well, MKM thinks it is a useful blade style as they produce their ISONZO in a similar sized package in reverse-S. I'm not sure Spyderco could hit the same price point while still making it in Japan. That Isonzo is $84.90 vs the Hawkbill Dragonfly Salt @ $71.40, so a much lower price point than the ...

Heck yeah. I'll take option B. In k390 since it's regular production in seki now. Serrated if possible.

Pretty sure the K04 wasn't branded as a Spyderco when first released in the early 80s. That's probably why it has no hole.

Re: Spyderco Dodo?

I bet we'll see a BHQ jade/DLC Dodo sooner or later. They've run satin & DLC for every release so far. They've done Satin and DLC on a bunch but there are still a few that haven't got a DLC version like the Lum Tanto, Lum Chinese, and of course the Dodo. I woud definitely welcome a DLC variant of t...

What ever happened to the Full Size Manix Lock back with Eric's lock improvements? S110V or S90V would be pretty sweet on that.
Judging by how quickly the manix lock back was discontinued, I don't think they will be doing sprints or a bigger model.

Re: d2 the china line...?

I think a stainless upgrade (bd1n or 14c28n) would make more sense from a business standpoint than d2. If the guys I work with are typical, folks who buy budget knives don't know what steel it is made out of and probably don't keep it sharp. So if they've owned the knife a year, they won't remember ...

Re: Making G10 Scales Smooth like Bombshell Scales

They sometimes do smooth g10 (Vallaton, Hungarian, one eyed Jack), but it seems most folks like a grippier texture. Knife center did a smooth g10 cruwear native that took a long time to sell out and I don't think it was the cruwear that was holding up the sales.

That looks really good. Solved my only problem with that Sprint run. I usually like colorful knives, but I just can't do orange.

Re: Screws do not come off Native 5 Salt

I don't own a salt version, but assuming it's like the regular frn version, it sounds like the threaded inserts in the frn might be loose. Maybe send it in for warranty repair? A screw that won't tighten down would concern me.

Nice! I hope these are fully solid CF like the shaman sprint.
It says solid in the reveal and on the website. Has golden ever done laminate? All the carbon fiber knives from there that I know of were solid.

Dodo in cruwear and green patterned g10 like the 2013 forum knife

Dyad with SE h1 and PE lc200n in yellow frn just makes too much sense

Persian large or small with bolsters, polished white or burgundy micarta and vanax

Re: heavyweight salts?

I'm not an avid fisherman or anything, so if I'm around water enough to carry a salt, I'm probably in swim trunks. That being the case, I prefer lightweights. I see the reasoning behind wanting more "heavyweight" salts though. The Caribbean seems to be popular, I'd imagine a salt pm2 or shaman would...

Re: H-1 is subpar???

To also give specific suggestions. Since you like the design of the knife, but not the steel, then an endura 4 in vg10 would be a really good starting point. If you can maintain rust prone steels while at sea, and dont mind oiling the pivot, then the endura 4 will also be available in k390 steel ve...

Re: SPY27 or LC200N FFG Spyderhawk Sprint?

I would be in for either but a slight preference for spy27 as don't have that steel yet. My hawkbill dragonfly has really opened my eyes to the utility of SE hawkbills and I would like to try one in a larger size. For color, I'd prefer a bright color that isn't green. I like green, but I'd mostly us...

Coworker noticed my native and commented. Showed me his blacked out military. We chatted a bit, turns out he's a veteran and didn't know about opfocus, he seemed pretty interested to know about the discount.
