Re: Police HAP40 and Pakkawood: KC Exclusive

That looks great but the price seems very high. I believe the Endura went for $145 or so. I know the Police is a larger model but an $80 increase over the Endura seems a bit much. The endura is available still (or again). Knifecenter does additional batches of popular exclusives (what a concept!). ...

Re: How important is scale color?

If I really like a design/steel combo I can deal with most colors but I am bored to death with grey scales. There is little as bleh as a grey blade with grey scales and grey hardware. I think of it as Ned Flanders spec (some plain white bread, maybe with a glass of water on the side for dippin'!) :D

Was planning on getting one now that they're finally restocked but the SFO sold out before I had a chance to place an order. Less than three days. I really hope they don't discontinue it, there seems to be a lot of pent up demand

Re: Knife Handles: The Importance and Safety Thereof

Interesting. I don't know that I've ever cut myself on the hand that was holding the blade before. I've nipped myself on the off hand many times, usually when chopping a little too fast and the food shifts under my hand. Did the knife you were using not have a bolster? I generally use a pinch grip w...

Re: Vacation Knives

Nice selections. A salty knife is always great for the beach, I usually use a dragonfly. If I'm fishing, Waterway or pac salt (No siren... yet). For general vacation use, I like a ukpk so I don't have to worry about local laws. A Kapara would be a good alternative for knife friendly locations. Works...

Re: Discontinued List 2021 Speculation Thread

Here's to hoping the GB 2 hasn't been axed. I strongly agree. I've really been wanting to get a GB2 but haven't been able to find one. Same here. It has been out of stock everywhere since before last year's list came out. Since they didn't put it on the 2019 list and it's in the 2020 catalog, I hav...

Re: Unpopular opinions

I agree and disagree at the same time. I don’t see a problem at all. I love the sprint game. But I also don’t see artificial scarcity. We're on the same page. I guess the artificial part added some confusion. They're just scare because of they're a limited run Unless it is limited because of a rare...

Re: Unpopular opinions

Here's one: neither flippers nor their customers are the problem. The problem is artificial scarcity. Make more knives and there is no problem. Definitely unpopular as far as I'm concerned. Of course sprint and (some) exclusive runs are "artificially scarce". They're LIMITED production runs. That's...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

Because I'm a the kind of dumbass who runs over his garden hose with his lawnmower, I had to use my dragonfly hawkbill to fix the stupid. The knife went thru the hose like butter and made unwrapping the hose from the blades easy. Hard to beat a serrated hawkbill for that job.

Re: Best Spyderco for the $$

Ukpk. Legal almost everywhere so it's my go to travel knife. Thin (2.5mm) slicey blade with nice ergonomic handle. Designed so that even with no lock, it's nearly impossible to close accidentally during use. Bd1n is a great "budget" steel. It holds an edge well and sharpens like a dream without need...

Re: Watu vs. Deka

I gotta say, USA made 3.25in 20cv knife with machined g10 scales for $140 is a pretty astonishing value. Hogue could shake things up a bit if they keep that kind of aggressive pricing and start expanding the lineup.

Those polished scales are a HUGE improvement. Bolsters like the older versions With scales like those would be about perfect. Polished micarta, wood or bone would look great as well.

Re: Kiwi 5?

I've always liked this design, particularly the 4. I'd love to see a sprint or exclusive along the lines of the knifecenter Hap 40/wood series. I think it would be a perfect fit for the design. Traditional scale material and non stainless steel like grandad would carry but with modern edge retention...

Down for a SE for sure especially if they make it cbbl. I'd buy a dodofly as well.

P.S. is it bad that I pronounce dodofly as dewdewfly in my head even though I know it should be doedoefly? It feels wrong.

Re: BladeHQ M4 Manix XLs

Looks like these are both back in stock again. At least a few of them. Looks like 2 Satin and 4 or more DLC. I wonder if people decided they were too big and returned them. That, or flippers who figured out they couldn't instantly resell for $400. This is probably the reason. Hopefully i...

Equilibrium. Exemplifies Ed Schempp's "looks odd, but oddly functional" aesthetic.
