Re: Kris: Reborn

I had to bump the 'Show me yer bolsters' thread! They are great looking bolsters, for sure. I’m curious where the balance point of this knife is? It is rather handle-heavy. Moreso than any of my ~15 other Spydie folders. IMG_20200823_165202(1).jpg OK, cool, and thanks for the pic, Enactive! :) Not ...

GB1 and Lil Native Backlock appeal most to me-- with the satin blade.

Re: Kris: Reborn

I will say that if possible I'd like to see the sprint in a VERY stainless steel. One of my concerns with pinned construction in general is the inability to fully clean out corrosion if it happens. That concern is minimized if the steel itself is less likely to present an issue. I generally agree, ...

Ed's design was genius. He made a folder of the concept and carried the waves into the handle flawlessly.

Re: Kris: Reborn

I'm a purist when it comes to the Kris. Bring it back pinned and with micarta. I told you all this was going to happen. Agreed! But, what color? I'm thinking Ivory. We've been begging for long enough, that's for sure! Ivory, burgundy, purple? Keep it linen for sure. VG-10 or other stainless is my p...

Sal has mentioned the Canadian PK in development... IIRC 3.5 inch.

I'm not sure, but I picture a Caly 3.5 slipjoint.

This thread needs pics! Who wants to put screws here? IMG_20200709_200432(1).jpg I am all for no extra holes in this model-- keep the pinned construction (also keep the tip up RH only clip-- Sorry Cambertree and other lefties) Maybe a custom optional LH clip which would require tapping the liner as ...

Re: Kris: Reborn

Fingers crossed for at least BD1n and screw construction! I have to disagree. I think screw construction would really detract from the design, especially the bolsters. The smooth finish of the handle with flush pins needs to be handled to be fully appreciated. Screws would muck that up. The origina...

Re: In praise of Mr. Ed Schempp

I think the Kris was an exceptional design. The original maker can no longer make it so Eric is working with another maker to see if we can sprint it. On the Rock, I have and use the original custom piece. Exceptional design! sal Thanks, Sal! And thanks Eric and Ed too. I like many of Ed Schempp's ...

The Crucarta Shaman and Dfly hawkbill have been my work carry so far this week. Both have been handy and their attributes compliment each other well.

Re: 1st Impressions Of The New SpyOpera

Does the pivot on the SpyOpera run on bearings or washers? If washers what kind (Phosphor Bronze or Teflon)? If bearings what kind (Steel or Ceramic)? It appears to be bearings now that you mention it. There is no pivot screw and the blade stock is slightly thinner than the lock bar and backspacer....
