Re: Where is my Bow River ?

So, any tips for getting the most out of the 8cr13mov? Sharpening advice, etc? I'd try reprofiling to 15 degrees per side and only going up to the mediums, and if you strop only do 1-3 passes per side. I think the slightly toothier finish helps the lower edge retention steel maintain slicing aggres...

Re: Where is my Bow River ?

My pair of Bow Rivers just landed. These things are super nice-- even more so for the price!

By nice, I don't mean fancy, just very well done. These are basic down-to-earth tools.

Vivi has some good ones RE: reprofile narrower and med grit finish? Not 100% but search by user and 8cr13mov.

I was recently thinking a couple times to inquire on the Off Topic thread if anyone had heard anything from SEF. I guess not then.

My idea for a Spyderco Mug. It’s the LW Wire Clip version.
Nice one!

Re: Knife & Watch

Nice, Alex. Love the Seiko. Thanks Josh! :) It was a gift from my brother for my 21st birthday. I wore it every day since for at least twenty years and it shows I s’pose. It got knocked around when I was steel erecting (iron worker). It was never off my wrist and I wore it surfing, scuba diving, wa...

Re: Szabo Folder Review (Picture Heavy)

The Szabo is gorgeous. I lump it together with the Chinook 4 as a big heavy Spydie that i want but i will probably never get because i just wouldn't carry them.

Re: What I want (and a pony)

No such thing as a knife that never needs to be sharpenened. If you don't use it you don't have to sharpen it :D :D But is it still a knife if you don't use it-- or is it then a knife-shaped-object? ;) Maybe Darby is right from a metaphysical perspective--that all knives need sharpening? Sure, some...

Re: KnifeCenter CPM-CRUWEAR Native 5 with smooth black G10

Eihther KC had an absolute ton of these made, or lots of folks are allergic to smooth G10, because they're still in stock! How long did the BHQ N5 exclusives last, 20 minutes, an hour? Honestly, this amazes me, I figured they'd sell through in a day or two. No kidding! Yeah, I keep checking stock a...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

This knife is an absolute GAME CHANGER. I am amazed. Without a doubt, my favorite knife (possibly of ALL TIME) already. I'm running on 2 hours of sleep but I doubt I'll regret those statements. I am overly pleased with the ergonomics, the blade shape, the sheer weight of the model (I am one of thos...

Re: Riddle me this!

There’s a jungle. In this jungle lives two tribes. One tribe are all lying cannibals. They will NOT truthfully answer any question regardless of what it is. They will lie to you and eat you if they see you. The other tribe are all honest vegetarians. They CANNOT lie no matter what you ask them. The...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

With utmost respect ... why did you kill the snake? Well, they taste pretty good. :D We raised goats when I was a kid and they were constantly getting killed by snakes. I have seen a couple of dogs get bit too. Killer, you pulling my leg or do you really eat them? :) I've never eaten snake, but i h...

Lance, I'm glad I made this thread. This one's going to have me thinking.

Would you guys like to do all the answers over private message to the poster before answers are spoiled/revealed?
That works for me. I like the No Spoiler policy, as i requested on my last one.

Re: Riddle me this!

I was reminded of this one by Lance's riddle: You are in a situation where you must get dressed, but have to gather a pair of matching socks from a dresser drawer in a completely dark room --without any additional light. In the sock drawer are 20 black socks and 20 white socks. What is the smallest ...

Re: Riddle me this!

Ok, I LOVE riddles but my taste is more for the mathematical or physics related. I used to love word problems in math class...go figure. Here’s one that was given to me about 20 years ago. I turned this one around in my head for probably 3 months, chewing on it for a good half an hour a day. I actu...

Re: How about a titanium compression frame lock?

You could operate it similarly to backlock as well, or place your thumb just ahead of the lock tab near the pivot and use your index finger to disengage. I have taken to unlocking my Shaman like that if i don't want to do the pinch-grip closing method that is, i think, the more typical closing meth...
