Re: Pros, cons and limitations of locktypes, solely referring to CONSTRUCTION and DESIGN of a folder

I don't even know if we can go that far back or not. But when I joined this great Spyderco.com Forum back in September of 2004 there was a thread going at the time which I think it was "Sal" himself that started it. It was entitled "Let's Talk About Locks">> or something similar to that. It's been ...

Re: I love the Sharpmaker

I'll pile in on this love-in! I might venture to say that the Sharpmaker is Sal, Gail, and Spyderco' s most "important" product. Certainly it is one of their most important innovations along with the hole and clip... Then the steel choices and awesome heat treatments... And amazing designs, quality ...

Yeah, I don't think micarta is anywhere near as dimensionally stable as G10.

Re: If you could give any Spyderco the Cruwear / Micarta treatment.....

The more i think about it, a Stretch 2 would be my preference if i could only pick one.

Since i like the size, weight, edge, ergonomics so much and it has liners, a Cruwear Micarta Stretch 2 in burgundy or denim would be outstanding!

Re: Interest for Cruwear Micarta Manix Backlock?

I'm of a mixed mind on this one. A few thoughts: 1. We do not know if Golden can/will successfully implement linerless micarta . I love the linerless G10 and FRN Golden-built knives i have, but i am uncertain about the unlined micarta construction. The only unlined micarta folding knife i have handl...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

Opening up my newest addition to the collection! [img] Somehow this is the only one I have these days. Lost or gave away all the others I owned. It's like being reacquainted with an old friend. I'm excited to sharpen it up and use it. Forgot how sexy their geometry is! Good thing I had my pocket co...

Re: What models would you like to see with the side button compression lock like the Smock

Every compression lock model for me. As a lefty with pretty big hands, the button is especially beneficial for models with limited access, as foofie mentioned, or those without particularly grippy scales (i.e., I've come close to dropping my BHQ Shaman several times with its smooth G10 scales). I'v...

I joked earlier, but, thinking about it, I’d like a Cruwear Stretch2 with maroon canvas micarta handles. I’d let blade and handle patina naturally.
I would 100% buy one of these! Nice idea.

Re: Really Spyderco ... 5.2 oz for the Emphasis ?!

All I can say is : bummer ! You ruined this cool design... at least for me :( P.S I allways thought this entire Efficient family deserves a better steel and now this ! Not too surprising, really, as the Efficient is a bit portly too. However, on the Efficient you can remove the backspacer and there...

My Crucarta Shaman is 10 grams lighter than the G10 model. (138 vs 148) ;) Making it plenty light enough for your mountain endeavors. :p
