Re: Best Edge Performance Steel between these choices?

I thought this thread should be revisited as many of us now have REX 45 knives. I haven't had a chance to use my new REX 45 knife for much yet so it will be a minute before I have updates. Curious if others have new feedback yet?

Re: Native 5 Lightweight Rex 45

Alright Julia, you did it...decided to try my first Native! Figured at this price, it's worth the chance. Maybe it can change my mind on frn too! Ahahaha! Got ya! I got the g10 version, but if I wasn't already sure that I liked the native I'd have gotten the lightweight, too. Definitely less of an ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

IMG_20200403_164201sm.jpg This was my first new Spyderco in ~6 months, since i lucked out on the Crucarta Shaman. :spyder: I had so been focused on the Rex Native that i hadn't even picked up or eyeballed the Black Jack for a couple days until this evening. The Jack is my other newest knife ...

I haven't had to give either of my Rex45's a full sharpening yet, because of amazing wear resistance! But I know that it touches up pretty easily to that scary sharpness we all love!
Cool! I still need to get CBN or diamond SM rods. Have you touched up on the brown stones?

Re: Native 5 Lightweight Rex 45

I'm excited to try out some ~67 HRC steel! :spyder: Holy amazing production heat treatment! It's a big leapfrog for me from Cruwear as my hardest blade. I'd love to hear how it compares with Cruwear! I haven't sampled that yet myself. And I'm also quite looking forward to the Stretch 2 in K3...

Nice! That's the most appealing carbon Spydie for me. By far. Enjoy it.

The Schempp Bowie is very cool too... despite, not because of, the carbon scales.

Re: Spyderco in use, review/feedback thread

I'm really hoping someone can chime in here with a review on K390. I don't have anything in that steel yet, but hear nothing but good things...just haven't SEEN anything though. Rick, there is plenty of info about K390 around here. Just a few: https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=86116 ht...

Re: What was your first Spyderco?

Santoku by more than a decade.

When it comes to folders, First was SpydieChef. I seriously considered going for the Shaman first, but waited several months on that one. The Native family and Stretch seem to be my favorites aside from the Chef.

Re: Handle scale color and material

Classic black I like both black and colorful handles. On some knives black looks especially good. The Native family looks great in black. Beyond Spyderco, the Waynorth Black Jack, Gerber LST, Mora Garberg are classics in black. IMG_20200323_094818.jpg IMG_20200323_103743sm.jpg IMG_20200202_114314.jp...
