I find all of the Stretch variations more ergonomically comfortable than the stock PM2. However I recently re-scaled a couple of PM2s with the Flytanium contoured Lotus scales, one in G-10 and one in linen micarta. These knives have totally revised my feelings about the PM2. It's gone from being a s...
I bought the Victorinox a while back and forced myself to use it almost exclusively for a month. It was a bit awkward at first but I really grew to appreciate it and I now use it quite a bit. I like it's utilitarian roots and I'm looking at picking up another from Chefs Knives To Go. This one is dir...
I notice that I am doing more customization on my existing Spydies as prices go up. I find it pretty satisfying to tinker with models that have been sitting unused in my collection. It's like getting a new knife in some cases. In fact, the last round of purchases for me happened during the MAP lifti...
Just search manix micarta on ebay, can't miss him. I've got the identical in black micarta but I haven't seen the green micarta listed for a long while.
I started my girls with SAK Classics. They used the scissor more than any other part of the knife. They all eventually graduated to either a Dragonfly or Delica. However I think that a sheepsfoot lockback with about a 2" - 2.5" blade would be a great starter knife for kids. Nothing spendy ...
Sweet! I gifted my original Resilience to my brother-in-law and missed it so much that I picked up an S35 when they came out. Just an all-around great design.
Hi olywa sorry to hear about the screw holes. I have 6 pairs of scales from them at the moment waiting for the 7th of all those scales there was 1 set i also had to deepen the screw holes from. They did not need much in my case but its not fun if you ever would buy another pair from them please ment...
Just a note on the earlier MXG/Lynch clip comments. The Lynch works fine on the Polestar or Alcyone G10 models should you want to re-purpose it. The MXG has been sold out for months. I'm on their notification list when they do another run. I have an S35VN Tenacious and Resilience I want to put them ...
Apollo - I ordered a set of the toxic green sculpted g10 scales from Cuscadi after seeing an earlier pic of yours. I had to do quite a bit of work on them during the installation though. Turns out they are thicker than the stock scales so I had to countersink all of the screw holes a bit deeper in o...
I tweak my knives for pretty much the same reasons I throw a Volquartzen sear into a Ruger MK II pistol, or a new grip on a revolver. Sometimes it's a function thing, sometimes it's a form thing, and sometimes it just pleases me to do so.
Re: the titanium vs aluminum ball cage issue, I have replaced the ball cage 3 times. I used aluminum twice and titanium once. I made my choices based on color more than material since I find it hard to imagine either wearing out any time soon. I can't really tell any difference in feel or performanc...
Got a 'heads-up' from Nat Knives this AM. They have (mebbe 'had' now?) limited stock on PE and SE Leafjumpers. So there's an SE Leafjumper headed my way now.
