I am on board with that too. Basically a D4 with H1 blade :)Whieee wrote:I hope Sal wil make my 'travel grail': a Salt I updated to a D4 design, preferably with adjustable pivot, and a D4 design clip made out of titanium. I'd buy a yellow one in a heartbeat, probably both PE and SE :)

Hi MMyron1, Bill Moran approached us with this design. He said he had developed and refined this model over a lifetime. It was his daily carry and his daily user. All sorts of chores around his shop while making knives. He said that he felt the design should see production as his custom models cost...

IIRC, Fred Perrin promised to appear before anybody who would break the handle on the FB04 (which has basically the same constriction as the Moran) and offer a French Kiss. Half tang in a FRN handle designs are plenty strong, IMO. Look at the punishment some people dish out to their Moras, wh...

I don't have any fixed blades in my collection, since I have very little use for them. I can't EDC them, and while camping/hiking/climbing I find a decent folder works fine. Besides, carrying a fixed blade in the Netherlands will get you a lot of  looks ;) As far as I could find you have to ha...

This might be a odd question but how are they about fixed blades? If they have no restrictions on those then I would suggest a small fixed blade and a Victorinox Swiss Tool for the smaller cutting chores. Maybe a Spyderco Moran or a Mora from Frost. My Moran drop point FB02 and a Swisstool are alway...

Dear mmyron1: I have a personal first gen Moran that I acquired long before I became formally associated with Spyderco and it has served me very well in normal use. As you wisely point out, there are much better tools for prying, so that's what smart people pry with. Shortly after joining Spyderco ...

Thanks for the responses. It puts me at ease a little. This is mostly a light to moderate use knife when I go out. I guess u can say general use. I have never had any problems with it so this wasn't much of a question of whether I could break it but whether it would break over time and general use. ...

Moran Drop Point - Impressions?
So last summer I picked up a Moran Drop Point to replace a lost BM Griptilian. It served me well for the remainder of the hiking/camping/boating season (not salt water). The only question I have is how well I should expect this to hold up over the next few years of this type of general use? I am sur...

I am a LEO and my EDC on the job is a Tenacious. It has cut a few seat belts from accidents and an air bag or too. I does just fine. I have no doubt that my D2 Para would do that too and that is why it is in my bag when on duty. Right at arms reach. My EDC while on duty has to be easy to replace jus...

Even though I don't see the need myself for a 4 way clip it is one of the only things I would add to this near perfect design. I stress ADD instead of CHANGE because this is a **** near perfect design. I only own a D2 Para but it is my current EDC until I get an S30V. As far as ditching the compress...

I would love a Manix or Military in H-1. The only real problem I feel is that keeping the FFG Blades would be too difficult. IIRC, it would be too difficult to have that many blades ground. Also those are both Golden, USA made models and H-1 is a Japanese steel. A similar style of blade though woul...

1st off: an H1 slipjoint (UKPK design, or something new :) ). 3rd: a heavy duty folder with a huge backlock (manix 1 style); full H1 steel liners, lock, and ofcourse blade; topped off with either G10 or CF handles. It'll probably be too expensive to produce though ;) +1 on this. I would buy one. I ...

Thanks for all the replies. I can see this is going to be a long expensive trek but I am willing to try. My wife on the other hand might not be so willing. What she doesn't know can't hurt her right. I am thinking of starting this with just the ones currently available. I know I am missing out on so...
