Re: After carrying the UKPK...

I just bought a second hand orange G-10 UKPK for $50. I always liked the looks of it, but not enough to spend $100 or whatever they retailed for. I wish I had though, it is a dandy little knife. I really like not having a lock as it makes it very fast to open and close, which makes it convenient. Al...

Re: Calling all Canadians - Canadian knife discussion

I would be happy with a leaf blade UKPK in orange G10 again, I deeply love mine.

Practical uses for the Karahawk

Hi all,

Just got my first Spyderco in a long while (I edc a Military) and I got a black Karahawk. I mostly am interested in the design of it and not for defence at all. What are some practical uses for the Karahawk, some things it really excells at?

This is my first non-traditional style blade.

The One Eyed Jack would be a must have if they stretched it out Texas Toothpick style.

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2017 Report

Thanks for the pictures, I don't often come on here much anymore because I don't collect knives anymore, but I always check in this time of year. The Lil Temperance is something I may check out and I am liking the big Chinook too. The others are a little too radical for me or just not appealing. I s...

Nothing wrong with the current Military. I've gotten out of knives and sold them all, I have one and it is my Military. Big solid clip, grippy big handles, huge blade that rarely needs sharpening, the best liner lock ever made and it is very light. Really what isn't to like? Oh yeah, also love the e...

Military

I've not been active on here for quite some time, I'd like to briefly talk about what brought me back into the Spyderco fold. In the last year I've lost interest with my knives and sold them all except my Victorinox multitool. For the last couple of months I've felt the need for a stand alone knife,...

I like Quiznos best for chains, but there are Subways everywhere so I go there more often. I heard the Subway franchise is the bargin of the franchise world, so that would explain why every corner has one. I live on an acreage outside the city, the gas station in the small town up the highway has a ...

I EDC a Squeak, pretty much perfect for your tasks and nobody bats an eye at my work place. Plus it is cheap, bought mine slightly used for $25.

Spyderco Squeak

I must confess I haven't owned a Spydie product in a few years now, been experimenting with different brands. My latest one being a Buck 560 (Buck 110 with Ti handles) and a custom slipjoint I had made. Recently I spotted a Squeak that a fella was selling for $35, so I picked it up since it seemed l...

The jimping looks fine to me, there is some slight slag on it from the laser cut, but I wouldn't send it in. The off center blade can be fixed easy enough. It is not even as off center as a Sebenza I used to have which cost double what that knife cost. Frankly I wouldn't annoy the Spyderco folks wit...

Wouldn't you want something similar in hardness to the blade for a functional part of the lock? Seems to me a ceramic ball would just wear away at the tang of the blade until the lock reached the end of it's service life prematurely.

There are small amounts of play in any lockback mechanism. In order for the lockbar and blade to interface there needs to be a bit of clearance there. You probably can't feel play in the Dragonfly because the blade is much shorter and thus would have much less leverage then say an Endura.

I've been a member for a long time and quite active in the past. Now I mostly pop in once and a while. The tone of the forum has changed for sure and not for the better IMHO. I've read both this thread and the original one, the maturity level shown in both the original and this thread is shamefully ...

I don't really get the current obsession with misusing folding knives. I just watched a youtube video of some idiot smacking his Emerson CQC13 on a log trying to make it break. Frankly I was shocked it didn't break, he was using it in a manner that was best described as gross misuse. As for the OP, ...

I tend to put my knives in my pocket anyway, so to me the lack of clip and unsightly holes is a good thing. Very nice knife, I see one in my future.
