Re: Spyderco and Cold Steel "collaboration" of sorts.

I think H1 would be an amazing steel for the Civilian and Matriarchs; mainly for it's toughness, it's extreme rust proofness and edge holding that is as good as VG10 in serrated form are bonuses.

Full flat ground S90V and a Boltaron sheath sounds great for the NASA!

I’m not familiar with formed Carbon Fiber handles, but I am sure they would be nice. :)

I think that a real deal Woodlore/Ray Mears collaboration is the way to go. 52100 would be OK, but I would personally prefer S30V, VG10…laminated ZDP189 might be interesting also… Stabilized wood scales for the traditional version and blaze orange FRN for the high tech NASA.

I couldn’t get H1 to rust even in after an extended soak in a mixture of bleach and salt water. And a serrated H1 Atlantic Salt held its edge as well as a VG10 Rescue cutting cardboard - pretty impressive stuff.

Edge holding: Steel vs Steel, Serrated vs Plain.

Hi,

How do S30V, 440V, VG10 compare to AUS8 in CATRA edge testing?

How do serrated edges compare to plain edges?

Thanks!

hello all,
I don't have experience with many of the lock types listed, but after having several of my "tactical" folders fail spine whacks, I have sworn off buying any new linerlocks or lock backs. I find myself using fixed blades whenever possible. I do trust the Meyerco Blackie Collins boltaction ...

steel comparison

I have noticed that Spyderco offers a wide range of blade steels. How do these steels compare in terms of edge retention, impact strength, and corrosion resistance? Thanks!
