I just found a custom maker who (I hope) licenses the Spydie Hole and--if I may say so--OH MY GOD YES.

I never had much interest in flippers until I decided to get a knife specifically for my left hand. I'm very much a dominant righty, so I wanted it to be as foolproof as possible. Again, maybe it's because it's an assisted opener, but I absolutely can't miss with this flipper in my left hand.

You have a really good point about the BB lock issue. :) Frame lock it is!

Maybe it's because it's an assisted opener, but I can't not get this 0350 to whack straight open every time. It's kind of amazing.

Model Suggestion: The Spyderco Delphinus

Hey all--it's been a while. :) Until yesterday, I hadn't purchased a new knife since I made my FrankenSage , which has been my EDC for over a year. One way I keep my knife collecting under control is to buy only Spydies, and nothing has really caught my eye since the Sages. (Nothing, but nothing, wi...

One of the Glessers recommended Ballistol to me years ago. They sold it at the SFO. It's good stuff, and IIRC nontoxic. That being said, FP-10 is by far the best CLP I've used.

I ask only because I'm considering selling a few "extras" to fund a mid-range custom, and I'm not interested in anything without the round hole. :) So a list (even if not official) would help me narrow my search.

Custom makers who use the round hole

Does anyone have a list of current (or recent) custom makers who have licensed the round (not oval or rectangular--the real deal) hole? I know Jens Anso does, but he has stopped taking orders for a while. Wilkins does as well. Who else?

Got my Captains today

Whelp, my Captains arrived today. (I figured I'd love the knife so I saved some time and bought two.) This is one nicely conceived and nicely made knife. Some thoughts, in no particular order: *This is an archetypical "small big knife." One of the ways I keep my Spydie collection under con...

The thick blade is nice, and I'd rather it stayed how it was, but it's not a dealbreaker. I'd be more concerned if the handle shape were to change, as it would no longer be the same knife.

I sure would like a rhino one....

I'll take one of those too. :)

Ah, OK. I think I'm one of the few who prefer the rhino blade. I certainly would pick up a leaf sprint run, though, as long as Sal keeps it mostly like the original, perhaps with some subtle improvements made possible by changes in production between then and now.

Lil' Temp Sprint Run?

Did I read about an upcoming Lil' Temp sprint run a couple of weeks ago? Or am I imagining things?

Think the main reason was that knives with an uncaged ball are difficult to unlock with gloved, cold, wet, or otherwise "tactile sensitivity challenged" fingers. The opposite question would be, why not? The two reasons I can think of: (1) difficult to unlock = good* and (2) it just adds a...

Why cage the ball?

I've got a Dodo and D'Allara from a while ago, and I just saw that some of the ball-bearing locks now have a plastic cage around them. Howcome? Does it add anything structurally?

Until recently there were two "levels" of the Spyderco Collectors Club. You could either sign up for "main piece only" or "all variants". When did this change, and how does it work now? I very nearly signed up for the "main piece only" one a few years ago. Pr...

I played with the new one at the SFO and thought it was really very nice, but I couldn't get along with the small opening hole. It's very easy to miss.

I don't. I consider that one a spare-parts kit in the form of a beater knife. :)

Thanks. :) The very tip is in focus--hard to see in a small file.
