I do spyderdrop in public - with a S07 Police. I do it so the knife will be hidden in my palm - just a part of blade exposed. No need to brandish. BTW. I've read that in "tactical" :) situation it is prefered to open folder two handed. because 100% sure "stress-resistant" opening...

That drawing shows EXTREMELY weak lock design.

Locking area is directly behind pivot. No matter how strong spring, how tough the frame, this lock will be failing.
Locking area MUST be beneath pivot - the further the better - just look into Bob Terzuola book.
Function not look is the most important.

That is all true.

But it still could be a bit more practical, without loosing most of tactical aspects.

Those serrations are classic, but they rather catch than cut.
Standard spyderedge would be more practical.
We would have dual edge smal knife.

Full Serrated spydercos are great, but take a GREAT amount of attention to serrations on ATR. I found a few pieces that had their serrations WAY to high and deep, creating a risk of breaking or getting stuck in hard material. But I believe that they would be terrific in flesh. So - black plain egde ...

3,75 to 4 inches is not a big difference in use, especially when we consider DIFFERENT knife designs. Designs mean much more than just a lenght.

Get the most comfortable knife for you - in fact any locking and pointed spyderco will work.

Yeah, my wife asks me why I keep the catalog on the nightstand and keep looking at it. "Dont you already know what's in there? You look at it at least couple nights a week" You too, honey, at you too... :) That is a right answer for that. If you like to sleep on the couch, of course :D

I would LOVE to have that knife. Comp-lock, 5 inch at least, oldschool clip and design. I want 2 of them! Each for one hand :D

Different knives act different on some materials.
I own a Chin I and I just couldn't slash trough hanging 1 inch competition rope, where it could be slashed even with large swiss army knife(and military as well).
It was because of curvature of Chinnok blade, which caused rope to bounce/slip.

I would say it is extremely safe. Not only does it have a Boye dent in the lock release, but the lock release itself is much lower in profile than all other Spydies I know of. Besides that, I find myself never gripping the knife there with my thumb - it's too far back to offer a stable, comfortable...

I have question about Kriss.
Isn't thumb laying exactly on the lock release in basic "saber" grip?
Is it safe?
