My D'allara has taken a lot of abuse - the clip is broken off, the edge has taken some deep chips etc and it just keeps on going :) The thick blade, slip resistant handle and strong lock make it my candidate for banging away on stuff. I've also used my Gayle Bradley pretty hard i.e. cutting bundles ...

CF/Damascus Caly 3 Pre-order finally came in at Howes!

Just clicked purchase at Howes!! :) This is the one I was most looking forward to in 2012. I can't wait to get my hands on it. Anyone else have one already? My 2012s new additions were: Yo2, Caly 3.5 CF, Manbug, Manix 2 Lightweight and the CF/Damascus Caly 3. It really shows the diversity of the Spy...

In Los Angeles we have roaming packs of carnivorous tortoises. I am glad we finally have a folder that can punch through their shells.

Why do you prefer VG-10 over ZDP laminate. Just curious. I am debating the merits of each with myself as I am looking to get a 3.5. I have a caly jr ZDP and its amazingly sharp but a PIA to sharpen. My vg10 caly 3 takes a keen edge and is easy to maintain but I am really fond of carbon fiber - its s...

My hope is that Spyderco just continues to make them at a steady pace and that I will eventually get a shot at a fluted Ti Milli -- same goes for the yo2.

I've really enjoyed mine as a dress knife. In fact, it road around in a tuxedo pocket this past Saturday and trimmed a few stray threads for various guests.

Any regular production knife will *eventually* be landed for a reasonable price from an online dealer. My personal favorites are cutleryshoppe, howes, new graham and knifeworks. In my experience, all are run by gentlemen. You will just need to be patient :) Sprint runs are another matter entirely. F...

I am very happy with Spyderco's line by price point. And while I can't afford more than three or so yearly, I sure do enjoy browsing the buffet :) I admit to being drawn to the higher price point pieces.

Hrrrm. I would say the Gayle Bradley in terms of my own definition of hard use: cutting abusive/abrasive materials, twisting the knife in material rather than just separating the material and long usage cycles without sharpening/maintenance. That being said - its all subjective. For example, hard us...
