Hmm, I guess I stand corrected. From working with it on the grinder and bandsaw I thought it wouldn't be a great idea and I had been warned by a few other knifemakers not to do it. In my mind you would still have to use slower speeds, especially for the G10. I'm sure that it must dull the router bit...

Can you give more details? Micarta and G10 are MUCH harder than any wood and will not act exactly like such; try cutting G10 with your bandsaw and it will cut but will ruin your blade after one or two passes unless you have it set to lower speeds used to cut metal...you can actually see the sparks ...

I just received some black paper micarta in the mail today!!!!!!! I can't wait to start cutting it up into scales! My tan canvas micarta was back ordered :-( I guess I will have to order some blue G-10 to match my Yojimbo! Please DON'T use the router method for the micarta and G10! PS: so how many ...

The first one is dyed, stabilized camel bone, the second is dyed and stabilized lacewood. The third is double-dyed box elder burl, I don't remember the colors exactly, I think blue and orange. My favorite stabilized wood source is Jim at staburlsales.com...his stuff is very high quality and priced b...

I agree, please be careful routing these small pieces. Looks good and appreciate the post but I still prefer using a drum sander myself. It's much quicker in my book. Looks like Hector there has the incra router fence with a woodpecker table top and router lift. Pretty fancy set up, just about the s...

Sorry to keep derailing a picture thread, but I guess my issue is I don't know how woodworkers drill holes so precisely that the holes in the blank match up exactly with the holes in the tang. Getting the final shape by sanding the assembled knife is simple once this is figured out. For my denim Mu...

Anti torsion, Thank you for seeing things like I do. Thanks for the tip on the handle variation. I will verify that all 5 of mine are alike, before I finalize the template. I was just about to say the same thing as anti torsion-I was woodworking long before I was knifemaking and it's much easier to...

Chinese Mule warped?
Hey anyone else had problems with warped mules? All 3 of mine that I've received are warped to varying degrees. Not sure what I'm going to do with it to be honest!

My Team of Mules!
Well I finally got some extra time to actually work in my shop and handle my mules! Sorry they are not the best pics...I couldn't get the lighting to work with all the handles, especially the bone. From the top the handles are dyed stabilized camel bone, dyed stabilized lacewood, dyed stabilized box...

Epoxy is probably overkill for attaching liners. I use vulcanized liner material (what most people probably use) and just attach it with a good super glue. I use epoxy to attach the scales but super glue has never failed me when attaching liners to scales. All you have to do is sand the scales flat;...

One of my 52100 mules!
Well, I finally had a day off from work so that I could finally finish 1 of my own personal mules up! This is the original 52100 mule. This one has blue dyed stabilized lacewood scales with 3 mosaic pins and red and black liners. I know you're going to think the handle contour looks funny but that i...
