Woodcrafters CPM S30V Mule?

I see a Mule CPM S30V being sold by Woodcrafters. Does anyone have any info about these? has anyone built one? Is it the same as all the other Mules but with CPM S30V? This will be my first try at building from a blank. So i dont want to start off with something too expensive i also dont want to ...

I would probably suck up the xtra ounce or so and go for the Temp 2.
2nd from the top.
Lightest would be a Mule. Nice knife! I buy everyone that comes out.
Just wish Mule's were shaped like the Temp 2.
Great design that one.
Didn't make it in the photo, but an Aqua Salt would also be a contender ...

Bushcraft or Mule for camping/backpacking build?

I am looking to build a knife for general camping and light weigh backpacking. Which of these two do you think would work better? I will also need a commercially available kydex sheath as well. Which do you think is a better size and steel? Also where is the best place to buy these? Does anyone have ...

For a 2100 mile outdoors hike, I'd want a fixed blade. Before I moved back into the city I worked as a guide in the central Argentine sierras, and in the Andes mountains in Patagonia. I always carried a fixed blade and never ever hoped I'd chosen a folder instead. To me a folding knife is mostly an ...

Salt is a good choice, as many have said. Have you also considered maybe getting the knife blade laser engraved with something like "Appalachian Trail 2011"? That would be kind of a cool memento of the trip and only costs about $20 or so. I photoshopped a quick example of what you could do (I didn ...

Should I have Krein FFG my Goddard?

I have a older full sized Wayne Goddard that is a combo edge blade made from ATS-55. It is a everyday used but in pretty good condition. One or two small nicks in the edge but nothing to bad. The plastic handle is a little worn around the clip mount giving the clip a little wiggle. But other than ...

I absolutely love the pictures and story behind your Delica! Thank you for sharing.

I have only done 6 days total on the AT in PA, so my experience is limited but here is my suggestion. How about a Salt 1, have it reprofiled and FFG by Tom Krein. I wish this one was mine, but it is Wire Edge ...

to nswer a few questions, i added a little grip tape in a few spots. It worked OK but fell off with some use. The tape in the area unted the grip helps hold it on the edge of your pants a little better. the old plastic clip is a little weak. But it also makes it "grabby" to put onto the edge of your ...

Just to throw out one thought, how about a Delica 4 with a ZDP-189 saber grind blade? Tough, light, will stay sharp enough for the duration of her hike in all likelihood, as long as she doesn't use rocks for cutting boards, and not too expensive. I am mentioning the D4 because the earlier ...

need advice on new or old folder as special gift

This is the situation. My girlfriend is planning on hiking the Appalachian Trail next summer. She will be doing it solo from Maine to Georgia. If you don’t know it is over 2100 miles. This is a big deal and a significant undertaking. We are both ounce counting backpackers and on a trip like this ...

Newbe sharpening question

I usually sharpen my knives on a stone that my girlfriends dad bought me. One side cores and one side fine. He showed me how to do it and mostly I get very good results. Some days I feel like I just put a lot of work into it and just cant get a edge I am happy with. But I know it will work because ...

Whats the deal with the Salsa?

What was Spyderco marketing the Salsa to when they came out? I remember seeing them in stores and thinking it was a strange knife. All the colors, chili pepper, and the hood. I didn’t think any other spydercos had “pictures” on the handle. Then it looked like I saw them in a lot of the outdoors type ...

Cricket in FRN

I just wanted to know if the Cricket was ever made in FRN with a plain edge? Does anyone know when it was made and if any place still has them available?

First post.

I just wanted to say hello. I have been a long time Spyderco owner and user but this is my first post. I own a few right now but this is my original one that I bought new and still use as my EDC.
It has traveled with me through the Rock mountains, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Grand Canyon, Acadia ...
