Nobody...and I mean *nobody*...owns a stiletto for any reason that I would even remotely call practical.

And anyone using a knife like this for "everyday cutting chores" is probably either in the wrong line of work, or lives in a pretty horrible neighborhood. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106 ...

Big stiletto...13" overall. Solid knife, locks up nice and tight...real tough lock for a liner. Waves open extremely fast using the quillion to snag your pocket seam...if that's your thing. Mine was impressively sharp for a traditional stiletto grind, and if you are good with hones you can get it ...

Two springs are a good fail safe...fairly unlikely that both springs would pack it in at the same time. Should one spring fail, the other would still be sufficient to ensure lock integrity.

Just my guess.

I think the best "mod" that could happen to the Civilian would be to offer a plain edge version.

I'm betting the primary reason for the design choice in the first place is for weight reduction.

A full length stainless back spacer is tough to beat for maximum stiffness factor. The D'Allara is a beautiful example...one uninterrupted hunk milled stainless from the bolster right round the butt.

I use natural stones for a nice polished edge, usually a medium Arkansas followed up with a surgical black stone. Sometimes I will strop, but normally the edge is smooth enough off the black stone that I often don't bother fussing around any further.

It seems to me that good naturally quarried ...

Er...with the exception of the FFG G10 model, all other Delicas I am familiar with have flat saber ground blades.

It would be great if Spyderco hung nice full hollow grinds off the Delica/Endura knives though. :)

Good steels, both...but I prefer VG10 as a hard use steel as it seems to handle edge impacts with hard objects with more grace than S30V, and edge restoration is very fast in the field, even when using less than optimum tools. Great all round versatile steel that seems to do many things well.

I ...

You don't seem to see full hollows too much on production blades...which seems kind of strange, given that it would seem to have good qualities for most knife tasks. Perhaps the grind is difficult to execute economically, or something.

The blade spine could still have a pretty thick spine and yet ...

How bout a full hollow grind blade?

I just love the singing fine edge you can get from a good 7/8ths to full hollow grind design. It just disappears into the cut...and you can sharpen it forever before the edge gets too fat and useless.

Soooo, how about it? 3 1/2 " blade or so, VG10 steel, ball lock, sculpted micarta handles ...

We have a design for a G-10 D'Allara. Some refinements were made to make it narrower closed. There were also a few other modifications made that we learned from the FRN version.

Wow...

Is the G10 sculpted like the FRN D'Allara? A huge part of the attraction of this knife can be directly ...
