Hi DRKBC, no I was not aware about the saver. As You wrote would be a good alternative but has two cons for me. The good news for those who prefer the construction of the Delica III is that it lives on, in the form of the Salt I. Aside from the slightly rounded tip and larger Spyderhole, it's pretty much a dead ringer for the D3. It is also totally rust proof. which might be an advantage for backpacking.
