The Perrin is an outstanding knife. A good size and shape for general all round use. A flat grind really helps with cutting and the vg10 is a very good for a stainless steel. I will be using this as my canoe tripping knife this summer. It will replace my Moran trailing point.

Hello Kahz Welcome to Toronto. There are a couple of Spyderco dealers up here. Marathon sports on King street east of Spadina has a good selection of spydercos but is expensive. S & R Knives in the woodbine mall (Hwy 27 and Rexdale Blvd) has a good selection but is expensive...you can bargain th...

I own and use the trailing point Moran for camping and the drop point Moran for hunting. I love them both, just the right size for all the chores I have.

The Lebaron's in Mississauga has the poorest customer service of any outdoors store I have been in. It is constantly smeared on the fishing boards I frequent. Agreed that the Markham store is better. The only problem is they only have the Native ina serrated blade. <img src="sad.gif" width...

I too am a high school teacher. I always carry a small knife (today an FRN Dragonfly)but as mentioned above do not flash it about. Our principal has an SAK on his keychain but students are banned form carrying knives. Unfortunately because of limited gang activity in the schools neighbourhood, I mus...

I also find it is an excellent camp knife. The light weight, excellent steel, good handle and upswept blade make a very adaptable and hard working knife. I hope to give the drop point Moran a work out on deer next month.

As I have said over on bladeforums, I have had a chinook for about 6 months and used it on and off. I have had no trouble with the knife. It holds an edge very well indeed and it must be the strongest folder I own. It is the one I take when hiking or canoe tripping. It is a great all round knife if ...

I use Japanese water stones almost exclusively. They are softer than oilstones or ceramic sticks. They do however cut a lot faster than either of the latter. Since they are soft, you must use lighter pressure than with ceramics or oil stones. If you use too much pressure the blade digs in. I use sto...

Before I purchased my Moran fixed blade, my favourite camping knife was a Grohman#1. Still a great blade.
