Re: Bring Back the Catcherman?

A Emerson waved catcherman Would be great, to minimize the thumb hole and deploy to action quicker

Re: H1 Edge Test

Edge retention on my PE salt is not that great

But it’s still the knife I carry almost everyday for the past 5 years because of everything that Evil mentioned above

Re: Blade Width: What are your ideal widths?

I’m always extremely impressed with the slicing capabilities and ease of penetration of a filet knife

So I prefer knives thin and narrow. Unfortunately there are not a lot of spyderco's like that

Re: Reverse Grip Edge In, folder deployment

Forgive me for being naive, but what position exactly is reverse grip edge in? Pointy side towards your pinky sharp edge side facing your body. OP if I can add my 2 cents, although I do not know your exact circumstances nor should I assume them, in general I'd say if you are really concerned about ...

Re: Reverse Grip Edge In, folder deployment

Thanks for the input guys. The more I practice it seems fixed blade is the way to go. But I wear a suit every day and sometimes workout shorts during weekend activities. Both are not really conducive to fixed blades. The waved knife seems the best solution for a folder. But sometimes in fast deploym...

Re: Reverse Grip Edge In, folder deployment

A Spyderco? I dont think there are many Spydercos that open with inertia. I suppose the Autonomy 2 could be the closest thing, and that the reverse grip both edge in and edge out seem usable. I also have the Lil Temperance, I can agree that it is one of the better ones to use edge in. The thing is ...

Re: Reverse Grip Edge In, folder deployment

Thanks for the input on wave add on accessories, but like I said. I’m currently using a delica wave

But what I was really looking for was a knife that would easily open by inertia in reverse grip

Re: How much are you willing to spend on a Chinese made knife?

over Twenty years ago I had a very hard time buying a non USA made knife. But I saw a knife that fit so well in my hand, loved the ease of opening, small size but big blade, light, quality materials, aesthetically pleasing, etc. etc. etc. That knife was a Spyderco Dragonfly. I learned an important le...

Reverse Grip Edge In, folder deployment

Currently using a spyderco delica emerson opener with the clip reversed so I can deploy the blade reverse grip edge in, similar in fashion how Craig Douglas deploys the Spyderco P'kal. The Emerson opener works well However, are there any other deployment methods that would work well with RGEI on fol...

Re: The Delica will never die.

I always wanted to see a full edge delica as well. Eliminate the Ricasso like what is done in the centofante 3

I think adding a finger choil is a mistake in the delica lineup..it’s one of the few spyderco knives that doesn’t have a choil. I prefer all my fingers on the handle but close to the blade

Maybe Janich and Douglas can create a new grappling program involving MBC.

Using a smaller more edc friendly version of the reverse

Shivworks developed one, the CLINCH PITCH
Yeah, but it’s not reversible or a spyderco 😋

Re: This must change: VG10 and H1 to be used outside of Japan. What can Spyderco do?

VG 10 knives are being made in PRC now. It's advertised as Vg 10 anyways. Joe Also: What is to stop non-Japanese companies from reverse engineering VG10 and H1 steel's basic formula and either changing it a bit or making their own batches of it? Absolutely nothing, but many consumers prefer to have...

Re: This must change: VG10 and H1 to be used outside of Japan. What can Spyderco do?

It’s called property rights. The manufacturer can utilize its products in any way they desire

If they choose poorly the market will correct them. But honestly it might not be a bad marketing decision since knives and steels are mostly a commodity item

Re: Any books or videos on using the spyderco p’kal

Small blades are accessed under extreme duress, in disadvantaged positions -- like grounded grapple. Confined spaces like cars and cluttered rooms that limit mobility and escape options. Targeting specific body areas while in a grounded grapple is not easy. Thus, point driven in and ripping out wit...

Re: Any books or videos on using the spyderco p’kal

Thanx Mike. Some more history: When I began working with Craig on the P'Kal, his description of the situation was graphic; "I'm working undercover narcotics. This 350 guy is 3 feet away, all coked up, and coming in for the attack. I can't get to a firearm. I have my Disciple fixed blade on my belt ...

Re: Any books or videos on using the spyderco p’kal

Dear dd61999: Thank you for your kind words. Yes, in a clinch or grappling situation, it's easier to use reverse-edge mechanics than edge out. However, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. The knife is a lethal weapon, so it should only be introduced when you're facing the thr...

Hey, All: Thank you for this discussion. I've had the honor of knowing Craig for many years and have taught with him a few times at the NE Shooters summit. He is an outstanding trainer and I respect him highly. At the same time, he and I take a very different approach to knife tactics, while remain...

Re: Any books or videos on using the spyderco p’kal

I have done several courses on MBC. I am now interested in P'kal reverse edge in techniques like those taught by shivworks. I would like to get some books or videos before actually taking some classes. But the only ones I found, are short videos on youtube Where do you live? I may be able to recomm...
