You are not alone with have problems with the 440v I too have the same problem the 440v steel knives. I know that I might be alone with the thought that 440v steel is not for me I like the VG-10 steel better.

I know one thing you will not find a better steel in any production knife I have tried many knives with many types of steel but I always go back to the VG-10 steel knives! I wish Spyderco would bring out more knives with this steel.

I have used both steels and I like VG-10 over the 440v the Vg-10 sharpens up much better and holds an edge I think longer I know this is not what the main stream knife users would agree with but it is my experience! I think the VG-10 is much over looked super steel!

You can't go wrong with the Military a lot of people that have not tried a flat ground blade don't khow how easy they slice through stuff like fruits & veggies and other things. They slice a lot better than other types of blade grinds.

You can't go wrong with the Calypso Jr Lw very good cutting knife stays sharp a long time and is easy to keep sharp! And doesn't cost all that much.

Sharpmaker Rods

Hi everyone I love the Sharpmarker but I bought a new one and seem to be having problems it does not remove metal evenly on the corners it's like there is a coating on the white rods my old ones leave a pencil lead size mark on the corners but the new ones leave about a hair size mark from the metal...

I like the sharpmaker a lot but it's only problem it can't remove a lot of metal you need something that you can thin the edge out and then use the sharpmaker to touch up the blade. I use a one in. belt sander to thin the blade out then use the sharpmaker to finnish off the blade.Works great!
