Topic: Who packs a Wharncliffe Blade?

I've become a huge fan of wharncliffe blades recently. I will be picking up an orange wharny Urban when they become available. One of my current favorite knives is a custom fixed blade wharncliffe. It's gone hiking, hunting, farming, etc. with me and makes for an excellent utility blade.

Looks like an excellent knife, I'm quite excited about this one. Will be saving pennies for this one. Haven't gotten a folder in a while, been busy with custom fixed blades lately. This one is great, but a *lefty* version would be even better. Hopefully there is a run of lefties.

It would be possible to re-handle a Moran, and I've actually thought about trying to get somebody to to it to mine. The partial tang shouldn't pose too much of a problem. I've seen several re-handled Mora knives that have been re-handled, and they also have partial tangs.

Thanks to y'all at Spyderco, this is a steal. Really looking forward to trying this one out, I expect it to be a fun little knife. And thanks to cobrajoe for telling me about another knife to spend money on.

Do does anyone like Ontario Rat models or now RAT Cutlery? I like their TAK-1 models and the RAT-5 also.

I'm thinking of grabbing a RAT-5 soon. :) I had a TAK-1 in D2 and it was a good knife. I think the next RAT I get will be in 1095 carbon.

Having handled both RAT Cutlery and Ontario versions ...

I do little to care for my ZDP Endura other than wipe it clean when it gets dirty and try to keep it reasonably dry. Have had a couple rust spots form, but they wiped off quickly. Have carried this knife for almost a year in some pretty rough conditions, and the steel holds up fine. You shouldn't ...

ATS-34 is a very good steel. It is very tough. I recall (before I knew better) using an ATS-34 Buck knife and hammering it through electrical cable without ANY edge chipping or even rolling. That's some tough stuff. Never have been able to get a really sharp edge on that knife, but it was probably ...

I've only lost one knife in my life. It was an SAK Hunter (Not completely sure on model). Was many years ago when I climbed trees almost constantly. We were checking some cattle in a pasture, and I was in a tree above a nice gloopy pothole. Of course, the knife went down into the gloop. Dad got a ...

I also found one of these on my 52100 Mule factory second. Interesting to see one on another knife model. It seemed to me a response to threads showing the first Mule run poking through boxes during shipping, as they had no tip protection, if I remember correctly. Anybody know if they in use before ...

I have recently come to appreciate CE knives a lot more. My primary work (state park maintenance and farming) knife has been a ZDP Endura in combo edge, and it has proven very versatile. I prefer a plain edge for almost all situations, but the SE portion of the blade is very useful around the shop ...

The ATR is a very nice knife. I like the blade a lot, mine is SE and cuts very well. It is one of my sharpest SE knives. Not a fan of SE, and wish this one was PE as well, but it does cut nicely. The blade is actually a bit thinner than you might expect. The swedge and high hollow grind combine to ...

I share Deacon's problem, many thumbstuds are on the wrong side of the blade. Many of the blades I have handled that do have a thumbstud on the proper side of the blade have thumbstuds that are nearly buried due to the handle design and are very difficult to use. The hole works with both hands ...
