Re: How to improve the Manix 2

I'm surprised that Sal hasn't dabbled in making his own handgun.

Maybe a 1911 with a 3'' barrel or perhaps something else entirely?

Anyways... I have updated my first post with some new inclusions.

The 3" 1911 in .45....ah yes, the epitome of reliable carry guns.

It's a concealed ...

Re: How to improve the Manix 2

I've got a Manix 2 CF S90V. Doesn't need a single improvement.

So you are happy with some parts of the lock being made out of plastic?

Because I sure ain't.

Absolutely no problem. If it ever breaks, I'll drop off in Golden for repair.

I've got Axis, Compression, Frame locks and the Manix 2 ...

Re: S90V?

I've got a Manix 2 CF S90V limited run knife, bought it in 2009.

Great knife, one of the finest knives I've ever used and carried. The S90V steel gets a wicked edge on the Sharpmaker, use mostly the medium and fine rods, I don't think I ever used the diamond coated rods on the S90V.

The edge holds ...

I don't know 'how much better' the S110V is than the S90V that I have, but the better steels do perform 'as advertised'!

The S90V Manix 2 CF (Golden made) I bought for $179.99 in I believe 2009...

The best EDC knife I have ever bought. I carry is virtually ALL THE TIME.

If I'd of known how good ...

I have the Atlantic Salt, that was recommended to me by Sal, for sailing here in Colorado and on the coasts.

Great knife... for sailing and for the occasional cutting of some fruit or a sandwich. However, due to the serrated blade, I would refrain from any type of 'serious' or even recreational ...

W/o any doubt what-so-ever... and my EDC for the last few years...

Manix 2CF S90V.

The finest production folder I have ever purchased.

Perfect length for Colorado, super sharp, great edge holding, fantastic blade design, lightweight, solid as a rock.

For the last couple of years, my EDC is the Manix 2 CF S90V.

This is the finest production knife I've ever had!

And I've had and still have some excellent knives.

I've been wearing merino wool since the late 1970's mostly in my mountaineering adventures. The early wools were to be quite honest, very good at wicking but kind of scratchy.

As the years have passed, the companies have improved their products immensely. Now I wear 100% merino wool top and bottom ...

IMHO, the Gayle Bradley is a fantastic knife from Spyderco! One of the best I've ever seen from the company.

I had a backup to the one that I EDC, but gave it as a gift to a very close friend of mine here in Denver.

David is a former Israeli paratrooper, married, with three young children. His ...

I purchased two of the Bradleys and can honestly say, these are rock-solid in construction, fit and design are tops!

One thing I had to do was re-profile the edge some as when I was cutting through some cardboard, and not a lot mind you, just a couple of boxes that came in from UPS... the edge ...

Regarding the word Taiwan on the blade... who cares! :confused ...

After reading all this 'discussion', I just ordered a Gayle Bradley because:

1) I like the steel.

2) The design is excellent.

3) The reviews and opinions about the knife have been very positive.

4) I respect Sal and the crew at Spyderco.

5) Spyderco is not only a U.S. company, it's local.

Both are excellent companies that make extremely functional knives. After all, aren't knives supposed to be first and foremost functional? ;)

I've got mostly Benchmade M2 and M4 knives, the 710 in both, large Ritter M2 and a 705 in 154CM. All three models IMHO are classic and well designed. All ...

Nice design, blade centered, locks up well, the Carbon Fiber is a little 'rougher' than my Stretch CF but that's no biggie.

Super sharp, comfortable ergonomics, a real winner. Might have to find another assuming Spyderco perhaps will do ...

Couldn't agree with you more, Paul. I DO think anyone should be able to buy as many as they can afford and find. But I buy knives to use and my value is based on that.

If a manufacturer choses to extend a limited run knife, it wouldn't be a big deal (although I gotta admit, having a "limited ...
