Re: China

Hi Sal, great idea to raise this topic actually! Offering knives made in China is not show stopper for me, steel choice is though. I purchased few knives in 8cr13mov in past 20 years or so. My first "spyderco" was Cara Cara when it was first released, then followed by Tenacious when it was first ...

Re: #1001 WORKER Which is?

Marco72 what an exhaustive thread and very informative including photos I never saw (like the keychain which was basis behind clips). Thank you very much for all the effort.

I think Worker should return into regular production under the new Category - Legends… followed by Mariner in SS handle ...

Re: Is the Wharncliffe a good blade for a first serrated edge?

Why not? Some people got engaged with Spyderco in 80’s as their first modern folder and in Spyderedge… I once attended dinner at home of one French director and his first knife ever was not opinel or laguiole but Worker in SE he acquired in 80’s during his trip to U.S. This sparked his interest in ...

Re: What is your all time favorite steel?

Just today as I was sharpening and maintaining my knives I was thinking of making a new thread with same question :winking-tongue great minds think alike 😁

Out of all steels I had luck putting my hands on I narrowed it down to three in this specific order:

Spy27 - most probably THE One
K390
CTS ...

Re: Spyderco pocket knives - model recommendations

Are all spyderco knives considered to be BIFL? Or are only certain models? Looking to spent $60-$70 on a knife. Any recommended spyderco model or maybe different brands that would be a better fit in that price range?

Welcome to the forums, if I were you and would consider one pocket knife only ...

I was thinking ivory G-10 like some of he other "test" models?

sal

I am in regardless of G-10 color, but I sure do like Forest Green a lot. :smlling-eyes

+1 on forest green as that one is not assigned to any specific steel if I am not mistaken… ivory g10 would be good too but forest green ...

Love my Manbugs, recent addition 6 months ago of leaf shaped one was a game changer though… little bugger leaves my side very rarely.

Re: Calling all sharpening experts

vivi Wow, it is indeed the skill I lack. I don't consider myself good at sharpening, I can do quite decent job but I wouldn't be able to sharpen H1 so it lasts such task you showed in the video. After 15 years of sharpening freehand and on Sharpmaker I still have a lot to learn I see. Great post ...

Re: Dyad Jr Spy27 Sprint

I do love smaller blades and I love to carry one SE and other PE knife along, Dyad will be like two knives in one and I might add another one to my sketching kit as it will be darn handy for sharpening pencils, cutting paper for smaller sketches and such. I am incredibly stoked!

Re: Spyderco Utility Kitchen Knife

I do quite like my K04 in plain edge. It has very clever handle design which promotes pinch grip, it doesn't slip in wet hands.

The only few gripes I have with it though are:

1. it is very flexible blade, almost to the point comparable to my Opinel folding filleting knife
2. blade is not very ...

Re: Just the tip?

I've broken tip only with my clumsiness when my Paramilitary2 in S30V fell on the concrete, 1mm tip broken off. Other than that I treat my knives as cutting tools and not screwdrivers. Abusing the tool for something it hasn't been designed for and complaining about it as makers fault is not ...
