Re: Janisong disassembled

Dear Rinzler: Thank you for your enthusiasm for the JaniSong. I remain hopeful that it will someday see broader distribution and maybe a US-made version. Spyderco's US factory is working at maximum capacity and the JaniSong is a very complex design, so it's very difficult to fit it in to our product...

Re: Janisong disassembled

Hey, DerRock: The pivot-pin end of the handle had to be wide enough to accommodate the lock mechanism. I wanted the "waist" to be narrow enough to allow some ability to roll the handle during manipulation. The flare at the butt end helps with grip retention and gives it a bit of an old-school switch...

Re: Native 5 salt lockbar tightness

Dear Sengel: The tang shape of the Native 5 is different than all the Japanese-made back locks it's compared to in the video. Although they're all back locks, the engineering of the Native 5 is different. It emphasizes lock strength over "flickability." Also, the Native 5 is "humpless," so the lever...

Re: UK Source of screws

Dear DaiGriff: Welcome to the Spyderco Forum. Since the UKPK is made in the US, it uses inch-standard screws instead of metric. One of the best sources for specialty screws is Fastenal, which apparently has a good presence there. Here's a link to their European website's list of UK stores: https://w...

Re: Trying to find a DLC Delica combo edge in FFG

Hey, All: For the record, DLC is only available on US-made Spyderco knives. Japanese-made and Taiwanese-made knives have titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, and Chinese-made knives are black oxide coated. As such, a DLC-coated Delica is not an option. A FFG combo edge with DLC coating is available...

Re: Blade tension

Dear CubanKooch: Welcome to the Spyderco Forum. It is OK to adjust your pivot screw a little bit, but making it too loose will cause lateral play and won't help the opening action. If you depress the lock release to take pressure off the blade, the blade should move freely. If it doesn't, adjust it ...
