Do you normally lay some peanut butter down on that bad boy, or is it just a jelly sandwich?

Very nice on the scales. I want some!

It would make sense for a company that makes many of thier knives in Japan to do a traditional Japanese blade.

Don't worry man, I've had a hundred "million dollar ideas" that were a day late. You would have thought by now I would have at least had one great idea that hasn't been taken yet, but oh well.

You said you had to drill the holes out. Does he not make any specifically for Spyderco's three hole setup? How hard is it to mod it to make it fit?

This is good news indeed. Thats the only reason I don't carry a whole lot of G-10 is because my jeans can't handle it. How much are they? Can you get some that are specifically made for the Para or any other Spydies?

The average knife user, will buy a Gerber and tell you that you are crazy if you buy a knife over 50 bucks. If you are into high end knives, you are not an average user. Exactly. And if you're an average user, you're probably not very interested in small, specialized productions (a.k.a- sprints) as...

For me the blade shape was the big bummer as Donut said. A ton of belly, not a very aggressive tip angle, and about 1.5" of cutting edge. It would be great if they could just grind off the belly....hmmm ;) . Other people said it weighed like Spyderco filled the handle with depleted uranium. Th...

Is stainless steel stronger than a fully lined G-10 handle? I don't know. That could very well turn into another great and interesting thread. But that's not the point I'm trying to make here. My point is that Spyderco did not make any of their bolstered knives for the purposes of "overkill&quo...

Sorry to tell you man, but Spyderco did not add bolsters to any of theirs knives for the purposes of "overkill". They did it for appearances, and no other reason. The Sage 4 was a commemoration the Al Mar's front lock and style of large bolsters. The Manbug got bolsters to resemble a class...

The way I see it is, not many people as I recall were begging for a white Wayne Goddard Sprint. In fact, it took many vendors years to rid thier inventory. Not many people called for a JD Smith Sprint, a Massad Ayoub Sprint, or a Zowada Sprint... Yet these were all made nonetheless. But I have seen ...

So, looks like the consensus is that bolsters CAN add some strength over something like, as Sal said, FRN, but are not made specifically FOR the purposes of adding strength. In general, it's to the contrary- they are normally made simply for looks and a touch of class. As for Jackknife's question ab...

I have the Jester, and I can't imagine bending or breaking it. It's one sturdy little booger. Any bolsters added to it would just be a waste IMHO and I couldn't see it adding any noticeable strength. In the case of the Manbug I would have to say the driving reason behind adding bolsters was more aes...

Sorry Jackknifeh, I would have to bet that any "strength" bolsters add with most knives is probably trivial at best. It's more for maybe a sturdy feeling, or perhaps the perception of a "higher quality" knife to some, but bolsters are generally added for appearances- not strength...

So are you saying that the G-10 around the pivots would eventually wear out? I guess I'm just still not sure why it's ok with a slipit, but not a back lock knife?

This has been brought up on here more times than you could shake a stick at. The basic gist from Spyderco, however, has been that there is probably not enough demand to justify the costs of preparing an FRN mold or retooling for G-10. I find that funny though, considering a Lava Sprint has been brou...

Yep, and not just SS, they do ti, and aluminum, glossy CF, and glossy Nishijin glass fiber as well, none of which offer any appreciable amount of traction. I believe you are making the mistake of assuming that traction is the only quality that makes handle scales functional. The truth is, many peop...
