Iltis Ox-head axes are beautiful tools. The axe head actually rings when you are chopping rather than just making a dull thud (the sign of a quality forged head). Lee Valley Tools sells the splitting axe for $94.

It's been a cold and snowy winter so far. After a number of mild winters, this one is like the ones I remember a a kid (50+ years ago). In Northern Ontario, a little warming isn't such a bad idea ;)

Any request to borrow my knife is followed up by me asking "What for?" That helps avoid most problems. I also carry a Victorinox Driver that I bought (3) on sale for $9.99. This is what gets lent to those who pass the "What for?" question.

I like to think that the 2 I haven't seen for a few years are merely "temporarily misplaced" and will turn up sooner or later. One was my first Native and I just hate to give up on it.

I think the area heated by a heat gun would be too large. The Mastiff's tip regarding a soldering gun/iron is probably best. This would allow you to just hold the tip in contact with the pivot screw, loosening it, without heating surrounding handle material. Jusy proceed slowly. Good Luck!

What? There are people on the internet who aren't completely and accurately truthful  ;) My experience with Spyderco products and people has always been great, that's why I'm still a customer after more than a decade. Thanks to Kristi, Charlynn, and others at Spyderco who are doing a great job.
