I was extremely lucky today. I got my hands on three black blade VG-10 Temperances. Up to this point I had only seen the knife with a polished blade?? Does anyone know the info on these awesome knives?.... how many were made, in what year, etc? Thanks,

Joking aside,
I think it is a good idea to teach your son knife safety, but do not give him a blade for everyday carry. He could do some damage to himself when you are not paying attention. Little boys look at knives like ...

Jeffrey:

Would an embellished knife like that be sold by a silversmith or would a customer bring their SS knife to a silversmith to have it embellished? Perhaps both scenarios occur. Any ballpark idea of how much a silversmith would charge for that kind of embellishment (above and beyond the cost ...

Here in the Southwest, that is a common modification for all SS Spyderco knives. Most of the silversmiths, around where I live, make a lot of money selling them to Ranchers, Farmers, and Cowhands, so placing the maker will be quite difficult. Be mindful of wiping it with some kind of delicate metal ...

Today, I managed to get my hands on a Standard ATS-55 ((SE)) beauty. I try to make a weekly visit to my local store and talk knives with the owner. We started rambling on about "old school" Spyderco blades and he said "wait a minute let me check something." I didn't know what was going on, but he ...

Congrats on your new knife bud. :D
Ultimately, blade style boils down to personal preference. I generally get PE due to the fact that it is the easiest to maintain. The combo is a mix of both worlds, but, I have found them to be the most difficult to sharpen out of all three blade types. I do carry ...

Propper Storage

I recently purchased a Silicone Cloth at the local gun store to polish and protect my collection. It has been, so far, the easiest method I have found to clean and lubricate my knives. However, I am concerned about the effect the Silicone may have on any of the handle materials (Carbon Fiber, FRN, G ...
