I have both. By a small margin, I prefer the Delica. It just feels better in my hand, maybe because I have other Delicas. The hole feels better to me too, it is slightly larger and sits out a little further. It feels more comfortable to open.
The low riding clip is a nice idea on the Caly, but I ...

hivemountain.com ???

What is http://www.hivemountain.com? I stumbled on it while searching some knife stuff. Looks like a mirror of Spyderco.com. Whois says its registered to Spyderco Inc.
Something new? Something old? Just curious.

Hey ljg,
I know how you feel. The new knife seems fine. I haven't put it to daily use yet, but holding the blade with a rag, I can't get any detectable movement out of it. To ease my pain, I was able to push up my planned purchase of the new G10 D4. So I want to keep the caly brand new for now while ...

update.....

I just wanted to post the rest of the story in case anybody was following this thread. After spending way too much time thinking about this, I decided to send the Caly 3 in to get it checked out. I figured I would wonder about it 'forever' if I did not send it in. Another thought was if I sell it ...

I use a clear cellophane wrapper from a hard candy. Roll it up to about 1/4" diameter and try to slice it without bending it. The further out from your fingers the better, but I'm happy with a clean cut at any distance.

Good points, STR. I keep going back and forth on this.
When I say 'clicking', I may be misleading. I have movement and I found that if I push the blade down to my wooden workbench and cause that movement, it works like a sounding board. It is not a "metallic-something's-broke" sound. The blade and ...

I'm a little disappointed. I hate the thought of sending it back though. I don't think that it will cause any functional problems. I might hang onto it and use it for awhile. If it still annoys me, I'll send it back in a few months when I get my next new knife.
I tried tightening the pivot a hair ...

Caly 3 Blade Play

What would be an acceptable amount of vertical blade play on a regular (vg 10) Caly 3? I just got The Caly 3 less than a week ago. Out of the box the lock seemed fine. I played with it for a couple of days cutting rope and boxes, etc. Nothing terribly heavy duty. Today, I started to cut a cardboard ...

How flat should ceramic stones be?

How straight should I expect my ceramic stones to be? I have a slightly warped 204F stone. Its maybe 1/16" out of flat. Not a big deal for regular sharpening, but when I put the two stones side by side in the inverted Sharpmaker base, they do not sit at the same height as each other. Only one ...

I bought the D4 wave a few months back. It was my first Spyderco. After long thought, I chose the D4 wave. I used the knife all summer and the wave was great. I mostly wore cargo shorts. The knife worked great either clipped to the pockets or left loose in a pocket. If carried loose, it was easy to ...

Thanks guys. The Cali 3 was the other knife I find myself looking at. Good points. I didn't notice that the Cali 3 was significantly lighter than the m-manix, and the lower riding clip is a plus for the Cali. I think I'll take a chill pill and be happy with the Delica for awhile before I jump into ...

Mini manix??

Hi guys,
I've been lurking around for awhile now. I have a D4 PE for a couple of months now. I love it and use it constantly for daily chores and projects. I also have a D4 fully serrated and an Endura that I use to a lesser extent. I think I'm 100% satisfied with my D4, but I find myself looking at ...
