Welcome aboard dtp9. Many different answers to this question. If it was a partially serated blade I would go with the Delica BK as it is 50/50 whereas the Native LW is 65/35 which is a bit too much serations for me. Don't discount a SS handle. Even though they are a touch heavier (who's really going...

If just one it would have to be my PE SS Delica. This is based on the fact that in part I work in a high density sheeple area. But as well as that the SS Delica feals really nice in the hand and cuts like a demon. The only thing I would change would be to upgrade the blade to VG-10. That said it wou...

In Order of importance. 1) I buy a knife because I have a specific need. My last purchase was a Calypso Jnr Lightweight, there were other knives I "wanted" more, but the Calypso had everything needed for the purpose in mind. I've only ever bought one knife on looks alone (hmmmm Civilian). ...

Thank goodness some of the old times have begun replying, I was fealing ancient at 34 Carried a pocket knife for as long as I can remember, usually just non-brands or SAK's. Got my first "proper" folder about 5 years ago (Benc...

Aww shucks, we're blushing I think a large part of the maturity to be found on this forum is that Spyderco's aren't flash knives, they're working knives. Plus the buggers are so sharp you have to be sensible around them <img src="s...

Hmm, even though I don't train any more (back problems), I'm tempted to look into it.
I must admit that a hawkbill wouldn't be my first choice of a general utility defensive blade, so I'll be intrested to hear what he has to say.

Hi Sal. I had the fealing that it would be difficult to set the machinery up for each handle type, i.e. FRN AFAIK is poured in a mould, and G-10 and SS machined. If it was just a matter of costs how about making some knives with different handle material to order. I know I would pay extra to get a D...

Is this the Spyderco 25th aniversery knife, or is it just the re-release of an old faverite ?

A picture would be nice

If I'm in the office Calypso Jnr Lightweight (PE). If I'm out on site Military (PE). Large SAK in my work bag.

Out of work, SS Delica (PE) or SS Harpy in rotation. Sometimes suppoted by my Leatherman Wave.

Always have my Ladybug with me on my keys.

Civilian video

I've not long had my Civilian and whilst going through the paper work that came with it I noticed Spyderco giving thanks to James Keating for the video he made on it's use.

Anyone seen the video or know of it's availability ?

It's not quite as simple as that. Although all knives are to a certain extent multi-purpose, most are biased towards a certain task, i.e. the Gunting for defence, the Tim Wergner for skinning, the harpy for rope cutting, the Civilian for slashing, etc. This is especially true of the Spyderco range. ...

That's the thing with spyder bites, they're so clean the two halves go back all but seamlessly. It would never show up on a scan.

You'd be surprised how much hard use my Ladybug gets

Now there's a knife that punches above it's weight.

I was too impressed with the sharpness of the blade to worry about any scratch I got.

Think of the Spyderwrench as a middle ground between conventional multi tools and deadicated tools. Leatherman and SAK's are aimed at light duty use, the Spyderwrench is for medium duty tasks. If you want heavy duty then you should be using a dedicated spanner, knife, screwdriver, etc. This is a gre...
